I've been looking into the necessary things needed to achieve such a feat although we are going to need more than just technology and our study of the brain at this time.

What you need is false displacement and full control of the retina and sub-conscious. The sub-conscious will basically dictate anything that happens when the body is not in a complete state. So when we put someone through "Full Dive" their sub-conscious could basically control what they see or alter it. To take advantage of that we have to have some kind of nuero technology where we can basically control what the sub-conscious makes the mind see. We also have to do this without shocking the mind in ways of death and injury so the actual body is not injured, which will be very tricky. Part of the things shown in the movie "Inception" are actually factual, and can be dangerous.

So its similar as to how in the Matrix and in Alfheim Online the offline and in-game staff were observing their brain, would that be necessary to have both staff members monitoring the status of the player's brain simultaneously?

I should present one issue: a brain function does not always occur at a specific areas of the brain. For example, there is the tendency for language function to be handled at the left hemisphere of the brain but the language function are handled in the right hemisphere in some human. Even when the variation in hemispheric functions are adjusted for, the neuro-technology also have to account for the fact that the each brain functions are handled in slightly different brain area across different humans.
