My issue is back. Can't load any videos.
Posted 10/17/12
Posted about this earlier, thread got locked 'cause it fixed itself.

Anyways, I cannot connect to any service like PSN, Steam, or XBL. Crunchyroll videos don't work either. besides that, everything's normal. I CANNOT access the router settings page for some reason.

it's been like this for a few days. Can I somehow reset the router without accessing the settings page?

Yes, I have tried unplugging it.

last thing I did that could cause any sort of change is using my old laptop that was filled with spyware (nothing too bad, though.).
Problem is, I used it when I had a different ISP, and router, and no issues occurred. Nothing has been downloaded recently to the laptop.

What router do you have? Have you also tried restarting your modem?

If you want to reset your router back to factory, there is usually a small pin hole with a reset button in it that you can use a paperclip to press. Once you find it, you want to hold it down for a few seconds while the router is plugged in and turned on.

Try pushing a reset button that is hidden deep in the router model or hold down on power button (maybe 30sec / 1min) to do factory restore.
Another tip is to look up your router model and find a manual to download or read online.

Do you have Adobe flash installed for videos? I'm assuming you already do.
Download another web browser. Google Chrome / Firefox

unplugged modem
turned computers off
reset router with button
still isn't working

tried it with the modem plugged in, too.

edit: according to steam, I was online 3 hours ago. I cannot connect now, though.

How are you connecting to your router? Wifi or via ethernet? If you use wifi, did you setup the router again after you reset it back to factory?

Is it just one computer or multiple computers/devices that can not connect to the internet? Web sites load normally, but you just can't access certain services like PSN, Steam, or view Crunchyroll videos, is that correct? (But you can browse the site and post on the forum)

Go to www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net and run both tests to check the quality of your connection. Have you tried calling your ISP to see if there is anything on their end that is messing up your internet?

I'm fairly sure I'm wired. That's all I know. I can't set it up the only way I know how to. The page still won't load.

My PS3, Xbox360, and computer are all having the issue. Yes, everything else works perfectly fine, minus CR, XBL, PSN, Steam.

Speedtest results are normal. Same speed I always get. Pingtest results: 0% packet loss, 31 ms ping, 10 ms jitter.

No, I haven't called ISP yet. Could the fact that it fixed itself for a while the first time, and for a very short time according to Steam have anything to do with that?

What brand and model number is your router?
Posted 10/18/12
Belkin. Not sure on how to get the model number.

The model number should be somewhere on the router, usually printed on the bottom.

However, since it is a Belkin router, you can access the setup page by opening a browser on a computer connected to the router and entering http://192.168.2.1 into the address bar.

There are two options for the username and password combination. Option one is to leave both fields blank. If that does not work, type "admin" (without quotes) into the username field and then leave the password blank.

That should give you access to the router's setup page.

ahh, good news. It did work. I can access the settings. All of the places I looked, they were listing multiple addresses for the settings but none of them worked. should have looked up a Belkin one.

Good news is -- while I was logging off my computer, splashtop (computer remoting via mobile device) had a notifictation that said that it couldn't access the 6783 port.

Do I reset the router, or change the ports around? the latter requiring a tutorial.

The Splashtop issue has to do with remote access. (I use Splashtop as well)

If you want to be able to use Splashtop while away from home, you need to have port number 6783 forwarded on your router and you need to enable remote access via the Splashtop streamer.

I've always been able to use it. this is a new issue. Is it somehow related to the PSN issue?

It shouldn't as it has nothing to do with PSN.

I would call your ISP and let them know you are having trouble accessing some online services. They may be able to switch out your modem to see if that fixes it, or they can check the wires running to and through your home to make sure there isn't a bad connection somewhere.

My grandparents have RR cable internet and last year they were having instability problems. They were able to load web sites, but anything really large like a youtube video would not load. Time Warner came out and tested their lines and found one of the splitters in the attic was damaged and they replaced it. After that they didn't have any more internet problems.

Sorry, by PSN, I meant the connection issue in general.

I guess I'll call them. See if that does anything.
