I'm gonna go with the lone gun/sword man who is on a journey for revenge, but winds up meeting girl along the way that is insistent on tagging along even though our protagonist doesn't really want them to be there, and they have a love/hate relationship all the way up to the last few episodes, then they finally manage to get along right before the journey comes to an end.
That story premise works for some of my all time favorite animes lol ^_^

For me I have always wanted to see an Anime that takes place in a prison (if there is one out there I apologize)
do kind of a Shawshank Redemption kind of thing. Why not? If we can have anime's about working in a goddamn restaurant we can have a character driven Prison Anime.

For me i like the Boy Meets Girl And Anything Happens. Either they get together and some crazy stuff happens, Or they just stay friends and have tons of fun. I like when they get together tho  And i always want to see an anime where Either a boy or a girl are just way strong and nobody knows untill they accidentally mess with them, That for me will never get old, I Would watch that same scene If they ever do have one, (Kind of for example "My Little Monster" Hes strong, Most are scared, But when they mess with someone, He tries to help and kicks ass... WOOOOO!!!) |

As long as it's entertaining, I don't care. I could watch the same plot a hundred times as long as each version found a way to keep me entertained.
It's like a mystery show. Such as person A kills Person B for X reason, the variables when, where, why, how, and with what. You can use the same cause for motive multiple times but change everything else and make it entertaining.
As for characters, I don't really pay attention to the overuse.

How about a certain line? I love the, "What you've done is... Unforgivable!" line. Although in Naruto they switched it at the last second, it was understandable instead, haha. |

the seemingly stupid or pointless on the outside side-character, but turns out to have a vital/really emotional in-the-end key role..
most times ive seen this is in key shows like:
fuko from clannad
kanno from air
hinata/naoi from angel beats
komari from little busters
but ive also seen it in others like:
kagura from inuyasha(her contribution to the discovery of how to defeat naraku)
a few of the side-character students from negima
kyo from fruits basket
asa from shuffle
nagato from haruhi
black star from soul eater
it never gets old and sometimes you even have to look deep into the storyline and how everything fits together to even notice its there! like fuko, i have a strange feeling a lot of people who have watched clannad have NO IDEA how vital of a role she carries into how everything plays out, it would take a long time to explain though, so maybe they just dont care...oh well |

Animes are littered with archetypes, just about every character from Nurato and Bleach are archetypes. In fact, from the top of my head I can only think of two animes that didn't cover the screen with archatypes (Monster and Ghost in a Shell). The two archetypes I hate most are:
The big boobed idiot chic. I cheered loudly when Ohime from bleach got imprisoned. Was so disappointed when she didn't die I stopped watching bleach for a month.
Blushing a stuttering virgin boy\girl that turns into a nervous wreck when talking to the person they like. Just about every romance anime has them. I would lock people like that up in a whore house until the get over it.
Am honorable mention to the idiot pervy boy that appears in the class and is somehow friends with the main character. I'm surprised a guy like that would have friends.
