One thing i notice in regards to theme music, they generally don't use harmonies. Does anyone know why that is? Lovin Anime!

(lol jokes aside) or ef has pretty good music in the story although not intricate it is in there

Plus, even considering how good some anime soundtracks are, the composers probably don't have a whole lot of time to sit around writing ornate harmonies for every melody or motif in each song. P.S. There are a gazillion other threads already dedicated to music in anime. I'm just too lazy to link them.

I don't mind them ever changing anything about this, it's what makes the music unique, imo. Almost every anime that I have watched, I have liked the music, even the bad ones, they never really miss the spot when making the music to the anime's, love it :P I'll give one example, one catchy song, you wont get it out of your head if you just listen to it twice xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieQ1rAIjzXc Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I totally failed if it has harmonies xD I don't really have much of understanding of music as of yet, but I kinda know what it is.

However at not sure, a lot anime music seems to harmonize to me? Can you give more details / example? Are you meaning why there less layered vocals? A lot of anime intro's are more to launch a new upcoming / popular music artists vs music to actually match the series. Gundam comes to mind.
