I spend quite a hefty amount on the support of the industry, and I'm hoping to spend even more after my job settles down.

I have a lot of anime in my room from when I had a local anime store. And I buy some online too. Netflix has some, and I pay for that. The biggest thing is when I discovered Cruchyroll. Being able to watch anime after it airs Japan is flipping awesome. I don't buy a lot of dvds anymore, in college with loans, but also because most the stuff I'm into now is still airing.

I pay for Cruchyroll? Does that count? Is what I'm really wondering I guess.

My first choice would always be to get my anime legally, since the overall quality is better and there isn't the threat of virus or endless pop-up adds or the irritation of a missing episode. However, some animes are just not available legally, particularly in the UK where there are licensing restrictions, therefore I feel I have no real choice in going to free sites at times. If these animes where available to me through sites like this or through other means I would happily pay for the sub. But paying £40 - £200 for a set DVDs I will only watch once isn't something I am willing to do particularly when there is no guarantee I will like what I see and as well as hating the clutter they cause.

However, it isn't the job of consumers to promote or support the anime industry. That something that should be done by the industry itself. If there is a demand in the market for animes it up to them to exploit it by making their product available to those who want to watch it and it's also their job to promote and develop an interest in the genre. The only thing I should be doing as a consumer is spending my money wisely and on the things I enjoy.
