Well it's that time of the year!
What was your favorite opening for 2012?

Personally I felt this year was a VERY lackluster year for openings. I mean, there were good ones but nothing that stood out. Y'know, go out, hunt down the mp3 for the full version and watch it over and over again on Youtube. Then again, maybe I've just grown really picky. But there some good ones that stood out for me

1) Sword Art Online Opening 1
2) Robotics;Notes
3) Jormungand
4) Phi Brain: Kami No Puzzle 2
5) Btooom!
6) Sakamichi no Apollon
7) Tasogare Otome x Amnesia (Granted I have no idea what on earth a "Choir Jail" is)
8) Sword Art Online Opening 2
9) Mirai Nikki Opening 2
10) Zetsuen no Tempest

the second I heard the electric guitar in the opening I knew it was a awesome song.

I forget everything that aired this year, but from what I remember, I came up with this:
1) Nisemonogatari
2) Psycho-Pass
3) Jormungand
4) Sword Art Online
5) Humanity has Declined
6) Kokoro Connect
7) Bodacious Space Pirates
8) Total Eclipse

I don't focus on openings too much though, ending themes are a much more enjoyable part of a show for me. It's sort of my time to relax and reflect on what just happened. To which I would say Shin Sekai Yori and Kokoro Connect's first ending were two of the best I've heard. This year had a lot of great ending themes though.

I personally think 2012 had a handful of good openings. Now, when someone refers to the opening of an anime I judge it by the actual animation in the opening sequence as well as the opening song. Now there are other factors I also look into when judging an opening but I won't get into that. I usually have my own list that I compose at the end of the year of my 10 favorite openings (endings also) from each year. I try to watch all the openings but sometimes I just can't watch them all. So for now this is my preliminary list, in no particular order at the moment -
