Left it hanging with the glimpse towards what's to come. Reminds me of the ending for Sekirei: Pure Engagement. I just couldn't wait any longer and fell into the trap of reading the manga from that endpoint to the end of the story. I hope Oda Nobuna doesn't end up the same way.

The show's DVD's sold okay, not spectacularly. This in itself does not guarantee a next season, though But it doesn't rule it out ether. I think the greatest hinderance to a second season is the fact that the series is based on a Manga; the story will have to rush ahead of where the Mangaka is in his story and create new story, which would be difficult to do. Though I really want a next season

No Oda Nobuna no Yabou is not based on a manga. It's based on a novel which currently has 10 vol. The story is already far from where the anime ended (which was in vol 4).

Yes the light novel, though there're currently almost no translations for it, has already 10th vols. And I hope that the anime adaptation follows the novel since it's much more detailed.

According to this chart, which I'm sure isn't entirely 100% accurate, it sold moderately (about 4700 DVD/bluray sales), so chances are iffy at best right now. Now if it had managed to make it to 10k+, then most likely it would have been greenlit right away.

At least they ended on an okay note, leaving us with a cliffhanger but wrapping up its arc fairly well in case it doesn't get a 2nd season.

Nyan Koi was pretty awful for promising a second season right at the end of the first one. But judging from the really poor sales, it's not surprisingly that it's being delayed (well, that and the other thing I heard was the manga was kind of slow, so they were waiting for some more stuff to get released too).

So yeah, it's a business and they need to make sure the products they make, in this case, anime, sells well enough to justify more of it. If it doesn't do well enough, their bean counters will likely say "yeah, it might be a good show, but it didn't make enough money".

That said, I hope they do a season 2 as well.

That's what they did for Kamisama Dolls and I ain't seen sh!t for a second season anywhere

*pissed off Kamisama Doll fan*

Seeing a preview and new characters introduced at the end does NOT guarantee a second season, it just means that they want to make it

The only case that immediately comes to my mind where another season actually appeared was for The World God Only Knows, and even then the preview for season 3 and what we actually got was entirely different.
And we had to wait 2 years for it to be announced.

First season of Oda Nobuna no Yabou sold reasonably well but there has been no news of it at all. Conversely, Kami-sama dolls sold quite poorly so I'm not sure about a sequel no matter what the last frame said.

Making anime at all, let alone sequels is a fickle business. We only hear about it once they start to make press releases. It was interesting, I just got the Muromi-san OAD with volume 9 of the manga and the afterward of the issue has the mangaka describing (with Muromi-san characters discussing it LOL) how in fall of 2010 there were plans to make an anime... that were eventually squashed before summer of 2011 when it was supposed to come out. But after a few more fits and starts it was greenlit in 2012 and actually came out this year almost THREE YEARS after they first started saying it would be made.

So you never know. Some stuff with crap sales gets sequels. Some stuff with great sales never gets a sequel. Hope and pray, hope and pray...
