Isn't Japan and the rest of Asia a little crowded anyway? They're just doing their part to help curb the overpopulation problem.

Agreed. People should just mind their own business.

I really wouldn't like the most artistically gifted people of the world to die out.

Whether they're the most artistically gifted is debatable, but regardless having them die out would cause problems.

They have the right idea ,personally i have given up on all women after i left highschool, would take my waifu over a real female anyday.
Why you ask? because they are less hassle i study hard and i also work hard i don't have time to waste on such unpredictable annoying selfish creatures that have always just wasted my time and fucked with my emotions.
If you have seen that anime i think it was called "The World God Only Knows" Keima has the right idea.

Also this quote from the article made me lol.

CNN spoke to a Midori Saida, a 24-year-old Japanese woman who described "herbivore men" as "flaky and weak."

"We like manly men," she said. "We are not interested in those boys -- at all." typical.

How would it cause problems?

What was it 19% percent of young males? I'd say that's a fair amount would die. Cause problems with families and such. In the greater gist of things though it probably wouldn't be a big deal in the future now that I think about it.

I've never been to Japan, but I feel that American people judge Japanese people based off all the manga and anime boy can people be so wrong at times. Maybe the Japanese just have higher standards than some other countries and the fact that this was a survey that was aimed toward what 16-19 obviously teens in that age group have higher standards. I do feel that the men over there are way too feminine, but don't the girls over there bring that upon themselves by making their men look feminine do to their entertainment industries.

If I had to deal with the amount of sexism there, I, too, would ditch boys for whatever else.

Lol but no seriously, it's not only the sexism, but I also read an article that the boys don't want to deal with it because (again, this is from an article. NOT me, I have no clue what the girls are like) Japanese girls seem too... fake i think it was? Like they'll pretend to be amazed by just about everything you do, and then if the guy isn't forcing them to listen to him, they'll talk about shopping and girly things that the men have absolutely no interest in. Thus ---> No sex

Japan's population decline is deeply linked with economy. Look at popular perception of Japanese men in Bubble Era. It was normal for Japanese men to marry in their 20's and have kids.

The sense of becoming the men by Japanese standard, which means becoming a provider for family, has gotten lost due to stagnant economy. Their rigid and over-conservative society is putting down young Japanese men to stand up and fight their way to overcome the country's lingering socioeconomic problem.

That being said, even American men are delaying on starting family due to currently weak economy.

This is one of those issues that will resolve itself in time. Nothing to worry about imo.

Based on my extensive knowledge of Japanese culture I've gleaned from anime, the solution to this reproductive problem is quite simple.

Just add more tentacles.

I read the article and the people mostly say its hard not be in a relationship and too time consuming and to be honest i kinda agree with them, only when it comes to asian families though. Their standards seem to be too high, asian parents need to lower the standards a little more and let their kids have more freedom

The survey, conducted by the Japan Family Planning Association, found that 36% of males aged 16 to 19 said that they had "no interest" in or even "despised" sex. That's almost a 19% increase since the survey was last conducted in 2008. If that's not bad enough, The Wall Street Journal reports that a whopping 59% of female respondents aged 16 to 19 said they were uninterested in or averse to sex, a near 12% increase since 2008.

Being skeptical of unproven statistics, I wonder how accurate this comment is. Even if it was, I think it is a bit early to assume that the young people there are refraining from intercourse. Honestly, that should be the last thing that cross their minds since the survey was done on teenagers and individuals in their 20s. They may change their minds once they become older anyway. And perhaps they need to discuss it on their stations there in hopes to help find a solution(?) The herbivore men statement made me giggle a bit also.

Again this is because the living conditions of modern day Japan is extremely difficult. Girls in High school worry about getting into their desired college/university then getting a boyfriend or having sex. In fact those who don't get into their desire college will 50% at a time go into a dire state of depression that could lead to suicide.
