I was never into dressing for Halloween as a kid. Some people in school still do. But I suppose maybe someday if I go to an anime con and had the money, I'd like to try cosplaying.

It's just taste. Personally, I love cosplaying, perhaps because I'm really shy about myself. But, when I'm dressed up as someone else (currently I can only do Elsa and Anne Boleyn) somehow have more confidence and I let people take my picture (I've gone out as Elsa a few times. It makes kids smile. =)) and they actually tell me I'm pretty. When I'm me, no one wants much to do with me...and they never call m pretty. (I have, however, been called ugly to my face before).

Other people...They just don't like it and I'm sure they have their reasons for it. We all have things we just don't get. I mean, I don't get why people are SO into things like Dr. Who and Harry Potter and, likewise, these same people don't get why I'm so into My Little Pony and Sofia the First. It's just a matter of taste and it is what it is. As long as people don't force their stuff on me (I don't force cosplay on them) we're all good.

First of all, Haruka you're awesome at cosplay ;)

I get why people would cosplay. I mean why not have some fun being one of the people you admire. It would take me some motivation to get into cosplay. Plus I don't have any really good friends whom watch anime as I do.

Who cares what other people think?

They don't like it, and that's cool. That's their opinion, don't even pay it any attention.

I love cosplaying, but I can see why others don't get it. Of course there are haters who will just hate on anything, but I feel like different people will have different ways of expressing their love for something. One of my ways of expressing my love for anime is through cosplay, but some people are content enough just to buy the DVDs or watch on CR. It's the same thing with sports. Some people just go to a game and watch, but others will paint their faces and whatnot. It's just a different form of expression and some people may see cosplaying as a bit too extreme for them.

But don't pay any mind to what others think, just be you and do what you like.

If people never heard of the term "Cosplay" Try to explain to them what they are and what is like. Of course, I love cosplaying. One of my best experience I have. lol.

But if some people don't like em, they don't like em.

Not having read every post in the thread I will say this. It's because sometimes the Cosplayers lose contact with reality. But if you like to Cosplay than more power to you. Have fun. But I have to say this tickled my, admittedly, weird sense of humour.

I haven't done to much cosplay but I do think its really cool (of course halloween has been one of my favorite holidays forever so I may be biased) In fact my avatar picture is me as a teenager when I made an automail arm, out of actual metal, and dressed up to look like edward elric from FMA.

So far I have cosplayed as Edward Elric (Series and COS Movie version) and Vash from Trigun.

I understand why people do it and in all honesty would like to do it myself, but, I also see it as a rather large chunk of cash that I could use for things from the vendors room, food, or things from the artists alley and the idea of getting a lot of cool loot always wins.

It's like video games.

Some people "just don't get it", and can't accept that it's an acceptable hobby of today.

I guess it's just not their thing. And they have no idea what they're missing.
