The concept is the same as Halloween, but people don't frown on dressing up on Halloween because everyone does it and everyone thinks it's cool. We all know we love dressing up, even adults love to dress up, but most people refuse to do it because they are scared of being shunned by society and people that they know. I applaud you for doing what you love, and continuing to do so... it shows that you have individuality.

They should'nt let stuff like not looking exactly like the character that they want to cosplay as because they're not the same ethnicity,size,or even gender as the character. Cosplaying is just a hobby that we cosplayers do for fun by representing our favorite characters from our favorite series! But some people just take it too seriously! This is not Disneyland! We're not getting paid to dress up and act like a character!

Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 12/8/12 Speaking of cosplay as a career, just a couple of days ago I was reading an article about a girl who did an authentic looking cosplay for the new Bioshock infinite game and was hired as a cosplay model by the game's developer/publisher. The article made it seem like a special case, but if you are into modeling you never know which one of your costumes could get noticed. As well, if you make your own costumes that would make an excellent side business. I have seen some of the websites and the prices aren't entirely cheap.

But one reason why I think cosplay is not "pointless" is because you get to be your favorite character. I'm an actress and I love to play different roles so cosplaying as a character I love would be wonderful
