Do you hide your anime / manga / drama / webtoon / etc when someone comes into your room?
|
Sounds like me, lol. All the people at my school who are into anime and manga dress badly/sloppily, and tend to behave really over-the-top. I don't want people to think I am like that, because I am not!

I don't ever talk about video games either, it's not a topic I have fun talking about, like at school when people talk about their levels and stuff it kinds of turns me off, though I respect what they find fun, I have other things I prefer in life. I already went at anime conventions and I must say I was a bit weirded out, the anime love was going a bit too far for me. Some people do know I watch anime, but for me anime is like watching tv, I don't talk about it since it's just to pass time at night. I know I must sound like an otaku hater, but I really respect people able to have a passion to follow. I really like anime, but only to some extent and that is to watch and enjoy. Well, I just hate the term "Otaku" period, due to the fact, IN JAPAN, it is not a compliment. It has a negative connatation that brings to mind images of creepy guys living for months in dark rooms with hundreds of scantily clad anime figurines. The Japanese find this creepy, VERY creepy. So I don't use it. Just like you, I watch anime because I like it, and do not become very involved with the side aspects (glomping, cat ears, fangirling, UGH!) I don't talk about it because anime seems very strange to the average american, and must be taken in cultural context. I'm not hating on fans, but I do like to enjoy my anime with class:) |

I used to, but I decided a few years back that if my friends don't want to be my friend because of anime then they're not worth keeping as friends.

I only have a few anime DVDs currently and a couple manga (one or two complete series) but I usually read my manga in class when I'm not doing anything and actually my English teacher told me to "put that comic book away" so I told him "I can't I don't have a comic book"

So, if they find your stash they assume you of being a cartoon pansy and beat you with their sitcom and live TV DVD/Blu-Ray cases to show you how inferior your anime is to their all-the-more-better shows? |

Not all comics are colored by the way or styled different, same goes for manga. I could go on, but you get the idea. |
