All the people at my school who are into anime and manga dress badly/sloppily, and tend to behave really over-the-top. I don't want people to think I am like that, because I am not!

Well, I just hate the term "Otaku" period, due to the fact, IN JAPAN, it is not a compliment. It has a negative connatation that brings to mind images of creepy guys living for months in dark rooms with hundreds of scantily clad anime figurines. The Japanese find this creepy, VERY creepy. So I don't use it. Just like you, I watch anime because I like it, and do not become very involved with the side aspects (glomping, cat ears, fangirling, UGH!) I don't talk about it because anime seems very strange to the average american, and must be taken in cultural context. I'm not hating on fans, but I do like to enjoy my anime with class:)

Not all comics are colored by the way or styled different, same goes for manga. I could go on, but you get the idea.
