It looks pretty, that's for sure.

Anyway, I'm still not sure about how good of an adaptation it will be. They may focus on effects instead of characters. But, the main reason the book is a classic is because of the great characters. Aside from effects, you don't really get much from the trailer. And how will they handle the end?

I'm sure subsequent trailers will deal with some of my reservations. In the meantime, I'll hope for the best.

The glare Asa Butterfield gives Harrison Ford while hugging Abigail Breslin has me optimistic. They've got a lot of really good talent; Hailee Steinfeld's an Oscar nominee among others with various distinctions.

Not entirely sold on Abigail Breslin as Valentine, but we'll see.

I've never read the book, but I have lots of friends who want to read it and have read it.

I hope Harrison and Asa can pull this off!

Actually, PLEASE pull this off.

I don't want this movie to be another center of attention for hated movies that also tarnish the book's reputation.

So, I just finished watching the movie. I think it did a decent job adapting the source material, however I am not completely happy with some of the decisions that they made.

Sometimes I felt they left out important information from the book, or did not properly execute their deviations from the source material. The biggest problem to me was I never really felt attached to the characters until the end of the movie, despite some good acting.

All in all it was a pretty good adaptation, but only an average movie.

I haven't read the book, but I watched the movie recently and I really enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of Gundam Seed. I heard the book is amazing though and much better than the movie (as usual). I'm sure if I read the book first, I might end up hating the movie lol.

Ultimately I think the movie deserves a passing grade but only because they kept what I loved from the book intact, namely the complex relationship he has with Peter and Valentine. The only thing they cut that I wish was in the movie was Peter telling Ender he loves him and that he is sorry while believing Ender was asleep.
