Something interesting to point out. Pixar, which is owned by Disney, actually started as a division of LucasFilm. Other than that, Disney knows how to make good movies and they can marshal resources, the Avengers is a perfect example. I think 2015 for a new Star Wars film is a little quick...unless someone already has a script they can dust off in a hurry.

After the cluster he managed with the last three--or should I say the alleged first three--movies, he needed to retire.

Good point! He has had a pretty large animal on his hands for the last what 2+ decades and I'm sure he wants to get out from under it. But with they way Disney operates it's cash cow, I doubt he'll like the penny-pinching atmosphere there. It will be interesting to see how he negotiates his metamorphosis.

There is an insanely massive Expanded Universe that spans 4,000 years before The Battle of Endor and 137 years afterwards. There is so many movies and series that they can make out of it that Lucas wouldn't have done unless he was doing it himself. I just hope Disney treats Star Wars with the same care they did with the Avengers.

I'm willing to say I didn't hate the prequels, but it would've made a lot more sense if they bothered to explain the why Jedi Master Sifo Dyas ordered the creation of the clone army. I know why, but leaving it hanging in part 2 was a bad mistake.

As long as we get a good legit star wars movie, I'm fine with this.

A new Star Wars movie in 2015, sounds to me like they're rushing it out the door. I doubt it will be any good, these days I consider anything Star Wars a cheap cash-in until proven otherwise.

Thank you, thank you

I'm a Star Wars geek and rather protective of my SW experience up until now.

Yeah me too man. Though I have to admit the re-release of the original trilogy like 8 years ago with the... ahem "extras" was borderline blasphemous but whatever. I still have the VHS and watch it on that. Gimme dat FILM GRAIN and crappy old school THX enhancements FTW!

So they want a movie out by 2015? That means they have a pitch they like and a writer lined up for a first draft. I'm trying to go through Disney's recent hits to find a director that would do well with the material but I have no clue. Besides that has to be the wrost job in the world. Is there any way that they can please the legions of fans?

There was a pitch a few years back for a movie all about the Republic/Separatists war that was going to focus on the clones. We got the animated mini-series and subsequent 3d clone wars instead smh
