12 Is the last year a kid should go, an adult with kids can go along and get candy and/or beers.
If you're older than 12 buy your own candy.

You can trick or treat up until your late high school years, then it's time to take younger family members trick or treating.

By the time you start college you should be prepping for Halloween parties by taking shots, rather than trick or treating, anyways.

I stopped at 11.At that age I no longer had a desire to do a lot of kid things(halloween, birthdays etc). Today I brought my little brother to Trick or Treat. I'm totally gonna eat all his chocolate

As long as you're short enough to trick people into thinking you're still a kid...

I actually never trickortreated as a kid. My parents were sort of the paranoid types. And our neighborhood wasn't very friendly. But they'd just buy candy for us anyway, so it wasn't like we missed out on any sugar.

I don't trick or treat anymore, but I do take my little brother trick or treating and pick up a few pieces of candy along the way. I'd rather go to a halloween party anyway instead of running around in the cold all night. I always dress up for halloween, though. It's the one day of the year when I'm allowed to wear a costume at work. It's a great opportunity to show off my cosplay too. In general, I'd rather see kids coming to the door looking for candy. If you're a bit older, but are still dressed up and in the halloween spirit, I'll give you candy. I don't open the door to adults though. I have no issue with adults wanting to have fun on halloween, but when a 30 year old man dressed in bloody, horror movie sort of costume rings my doorbell, I don't open the door.

I tried going when I was 14 or 15. Lady walked by me and said "Aren't you too old to be tricker treating".

That was the last time I went.

Sure you can. I had a couple teenagers at my house tonight. The rule of thumb generally is that the older you are the more impressive your costume has to be to justify the trick or treating. So where a ten year old might get away with a drawn on mustache, a 19 year old doing that will probably get the "aren't you a little old" response. But, if you have awesome costumes like the guys who came to my house, people are happy to reward you with candy.

I stopped in my early teens just because it became uninteresting. Being the candy distributor is more entertaining.

For sure, if you still have a one as the first digit in your age I think it's okay. I don't feel it's my place to tell someone they are too old. Just be polite. People don't have to give candy to anyone who is rude regardless of their age. Our experience is that 99.9% of the people who knock on our door are friendly and fun.

Now that I'm supposedly all grown up, costume parties with friends are so much more fun than trick or treating.

Happy Halloween!

I think you can go any age. I mean it would be cool if I saw adults knocking on my door for candy (sounds creepy). Obviously, they must be in a top notch costume to impress me.

Also, If you have a sibling of a friend to go with, and your not too tall, you can hide yourself under a mask and make yourself look younger. Hehehe
