So, it looks like it's back in Japan:

I've been to Iron Chef Italian Masahiko Kobe's restaurant in Ebisu, Tokyo. I went, ate there and was shocked to be thanked by him on the way out, sweaty from working in the kitchen! Life after Iron Chef has not been luxurious for him. The other Iron Chefs all have several restaurants so I didn't meet them. Would be great if Crunchyroll picked it up. |

Stay away from the forums, who am I kidding???

I prefer the iron golem chef myself.

Really??? Sweet! I used to love Iron Chef! I wonder how Chairman Kaga's replacement is doing, he seems like a tough character to replace.

I always felt bad for Kobe because he seemed to lose more often than the other chefs. And I second your suggestion that Crunchyroll pick it up, I would definitely watch! |

No Sailor Moon this summer? Boo.

Not easy to find his restaurant though, kind of hidden. It was very close to where I worked in Ebisu. He still looked the same, just a bit older. |

I always felt bad for him because he was chosen so rarely. The challengers all wanted the "big" names, like Morimoto, Chen Kenichi, and Iron Chef French Sakai.. I used to watch the original IC ALL the time. I especially liked it when they would have a secret ingredient that is relatively common in Japan, but rarely seen here in the US, like eel, sea urchin, etc. It would be good to see IC rebooted. |

yup, love the fast pace action. though they need new iron chefs every so often. it gets boring when people keep doing the same thing.

Oh if I was ever in Japan I would LOVE to try his food! I'm sure he didn't make it onto Iron Chef for nothing! I've always wanted to try Morimoto's restaurant in Philly since it is relatively close to where I live, but I wouldn't expect to see him there. I wonder if it's even still open... must go look it up. bebophitchhiker wrote: I always felt bad for him because he was chosen so rarely. Come to think of it, he really didn't get chosen a whole lot, did he? Does anyone remember the squid ink ice cream? Or when Morimoto-san did turkey sashimi? |

I used to love watching that show back when it first aired in the states. Havent seen it in a long time. Its doesnt seem like a show that they would stream here, but if they did I would totally check it out. Seeing the things they would cook on the clock and under pressure was pretty amazing.

I think it was a episode of Futurama in where it made a parody on the Iron Chef and the Japanese announcer guy would yell out, in pronunciation, "EYE-run COH-keh-roo!" Which I think means, "Iron Cook". And that's what comes to mind when I read all this. xD

My head exploded, one of the best cooking themed shows out there in its original format is returning? Is the Chairman back? the original Iron Chef stable as well???? They cannot fuck this up! Watching Iron Chef Morimoto was awe inspiring in the early days.

Morimoto-san seems to be doing quite well on Iron Chef America with the high caliber talent they have on there. (Food Network probably pays better, too, lol) |

I always thought of that competition as a huge stress test. Permanent damage surely results.
