no shy guys are annoying and hard to deal with.

I hate it when you go out with a guy and he goes and clams up and gets all shy. It makes me uncomfortable and then I don't want to be around them anymore

For me self confidence is key to male attractiveness. There is quiet confidence too so it's not always about how loud you are . It's about how you present yourself and articulate what you think. It's fine to be a little shy at first, but an always-timid personality is really off putting. It's prohibitive to communication and also possibly reflects self esteem issues, and most girls don't want that in a boyfriend.

Of course. More people for me to control.

Well luckily not all shy guys have such low self-esteem that they will allow themselves to be controlled.
I honestly hate females like that with a passion.

...You do realize I'm joking, right?

Well it's hard for me to distinguish jokes from seriousness on the internet, but kay'.

Most of the women I know prefer the strong, confident types. Unfortunately, from what I have seen it most often equates to the loudest and most obnoxious braggart in the vicinity. Circumstances like these rarely bode well for the quiet reserved types, like myself. ~ shrugs ~ Hard to say really, everyone has their preferences, and I hear that a lot of women prefer a more shy, quiet guy, but at least where I live the trend is opposite and rather frustrating.

I would have to say yes...though I don't have much experience with it.
I started dating when I was 17, because before then I had major depression issues which affected self-esteem.
As a result of having no confidence, I probably didn't look that great to people I was around, and yeah..so on.
For some reason, as soon as I started dating, I gained confidence and because the asker and the doer of activities.
I would ask people out, suggest date locales, what gifts would be nice, days to spend time together, what have you.
I allowed as much freedom and control as was within reason, but I was definitely direct and open with myself and others.

Truth be told...I do recall that girls seemed to be a little more enamored with me when I had issues talking to them...
Then again, I kind of get the same feeling now. I may come off a little bit shy, but it doesn't take much to break the ice...

Or so to speak.

What's the point of being shy? Works for a few of the girls in this thread, but If you don't speak your mind, how can anyone understand you? Same with getting embarrassed to talk. Wonders are made for you when you exert yourself, for you reap what you sow

Now here's the kicker. Most girls who prefer shy guys use the word cute and refer to their shy guy friends as examples.

So I have two questions for those who like shy guys:

1) Would you prefer to be sexually active with a shy guy or an out going guy?
2) If you have a shy guy friend. Do you think they are actually attracted to you but too afraid to say so?

In my observation, shy guys attract shy girls. Confident guys will attract the whole spectrum. As a confident guy, I've gone out with all personalities. However, a friend of mine is shy, has gone out with less girls, and normally those girls that he does go out with tend to be shy too. Mutual female friends have told me that looks-wise, we're equal, but my confidence puts me over the top.

In my opinion, the only difference between a shy guy and a confident guy is that a confident guy doesn't care as much what other people think about him.

Maybe attractive, but in the long term I imagine it becoming really annoying.
