I enjoyed Mysterious Girlfriend X. Unlike most romance animes where the characters take multiple seasons to profess their love (Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You, I'm looking in your direction), Urabe and Tsubaki know from the start that they're gonna end up with each other. I like how Urabe doesn't allow Tsubaki to take any aspect of their relationship for granted.

Yes! another dude who also watches Shoujo or Josei! (whichever one Kimi no Todoke falls into)

Woop we are several : D

As long as interesting is the watch word:

Already mentioned: Rumbling Hearts aka Kimi ga Nozomu Eien....Wikipedia has a good write up. I liked the show immensely though I wished the main characters were college aged from the start. The 4 episode OVA takes a different track re Haruka whereas the original series follows Mitsuki's plight.

Mysterious Girlfriend X
is deliciously bizarre enough to maintain interest just about all the way through. The manga is equally funny with more escapades from our mysterious Urabe. Manga writer is in his '40's and didn't want any intimacies in his character creations to go too far beyond certain societal norms.

Bake-, Nisemonogatari
series is an absolute hoot when it comes to assessing the unsaid versus the blatantly obvious in relationships, as already mentioned.

Clannad
is the benchmark for a male weepie show and it does a credible job introducing the female lead's parents to the boyfriend.

Welcome to the NHK is good also, almost a biography of what it means to be otaku, in between jobs, capitulating to accepting self-responsibility and coming to terms with who you are. The show does short change 1 parent of Sato a bit but I won't comment and spoil it if you haven't watched the show yet.

One interesting romance is Koi Kaze though many would view this story as incestuous. Whatever label it deserves I found it to be 1 of the better series that treated this topic with sensitivity rather than sensationalistic or sadistic. The manga is pretty fair also though the manga leaves no doubt about what happens whereas the anime skates around the issue rather than straightforwardly addressing it before the viewer.

And there are a few more but someone else will list those, I'm sure.

I'm not terribly experienced with romance anime, most of them give me indigestion.

I gotta say though, I love Chobits to death. Which is weird because it's got tropes that normally drive my nuts such as a shallow female lead (although this is justified) and a pervy "nice guy" male lead. It's a nice romantic comedy series with some very well executed dramatic spots and there's just enough uniqueness there to make it stand out.

Toradora, best series out there IMO. others would be almost all of the ones in my "favorite anime"list in my profile.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. Hate it? You don't deserve to see it. Don't like me? Go watch it.
