I think it depends on the genre.. There are other genres (like seinen/josei, or slice of life) that I think I might not be 'too old' for.. On the other hand, I am not saying all shoujo anime are 'childish' or whatever not, but there are I suppose titles targeted for younger audience (like Shugo Chara etc) and other titles that are perhaps targeted at a wider age range (like Kimi ni Todoke).

But it also depends on the individual - I for one do not feel too old to watch anime, and I do not think I will feel so (at least in the near future). But I suppose some people might find themselves too old or bored or tired of watching anime; and if you find yourself in that situation (or other situations like it), why torture yourself? Maybe it is time for you to do something else, something new - something that you will find more exciting!

The only time I feel to old to watch anime (even though I'm not even that old lol) is when I'm watching an anime that has young children in it, like Shugo Chara for example

I'll be watching anime until I am old and retired. I could care less what the little kids think.

Take note of my age. I have a son graduating from college this year.

I regularly feel like I'm too old for certain shows (generally when the fan-service drowns out the story), but never anime in general. Nor, incidentally, other animation when it is good enough ("Johnny Bravo" and "Samurai Jack" will be forever all-time classics in my mind) .

Yeah I see where your coming from, yes those high school dramas/comedy/whats-his-face-genre, can and will get old, its probably gonna get to that point somewhere in the near future (Or atleast when someone will try to make something new and whole different and unique, cross fingers for that xD)

But this problem all goes down to the genre, not the anime itself I would say, because there are alot of different variety of what happens in the school, the only problem is that, somehow Japanese Anime creators have some weird fetish about highschool girls with 1 CM skirts, -.- It's probably gonna change in the future, more and more "different" Types of anime will come, but there has to be one that does it first, the one to break the chain I guess, but to break the chain an be successful "IT HAS TO BE GOOD" Or it will all fall apart, and it will become like a taboo. -.-

But this is only IMO.

Sorry for typos >.<

well my other passion is animation character voice acting so I have to watch cartoons for this line of work anyway.

but aside from that there are indeed certain anime I would not watch becuase its too kidsy or there are a bunch of fanservicy type anime that is full of crap...that teens and tweens would watch. and thats when I would say, " I am too old for this bull***".... ha ha ha,

lets just say I f I had a child he/she would be around 16 by now

Nope, never. I am almost 20 and I feel that no matter how old I get, I can never make the argument I am too old for anime simply because there is an anime genre out there for people of all ages. I am a film and media studies major and my advisor and myself argue a lot about what animation is as a film medium. And really, animation is not only meant for children and young people. Neither are comics! I watch a lot of anime with crude, cynical humor, sometimes very inappropriate humor. I also watch some horror anime and then your classic shounen series. if I had children, there are definitely some things I wouldn't want my kids watching that I watch....examples such as Gintama and Ixion Saga DT....
I mean, I am also a HUGE cardfight vanguard fan. I probably wouldn't let my children watch it either....
I donno, I don't think anime is really meant for children. When you think about the reader demographics for magazines like JUMP in Japan, a good chunk of them are 16 to 20 years old yet it's a magazine for middle school and elementary school children? Even series like One Piece....it's violent and the current arc in the manga has human experimentation and drug addiction....definitely something I wouldn't let my children read....
