Fairy Tale--I haven't seen much, but judging by the 1st episode I could tell the show was just hype.

Full Metal Alchemist--Maybe I have to read the manga or something because I couldn't get into the anime. It seemed to be repeating itself the times I saw it, and seemed to have no ending in sight.

Trinity Blood--This anime was so boring and stupid, I don't know why I even bothered to watch it.

Naruto--For obvious reasons, but it really just became hype when the whole story basically shifted to finding/rescuing/defeating Sasuke. Like really? Nobody cares about emo Sasuke. Wasn't the whole story about Naruto becoming hokage? What happened to that?

Bleach--For similar reasons as Naurto. I mean, what is the story even about now? Defeating Aizen because he turned evluz?

One Piece--An anime that long with no end after all these years seems like hype to me.

The Dragon Ball Z series--I honestly don't see how this anime still makes men in their late 30s go all giddy. It can't be that awesome.

Shugo Chara!--It was cute for like 20-30 episodes then got stupid. Besides a HIGH SCHOOLER should NOT be hitting on a GRADESCHOOLER. I don't care how "hawt" he is that's just weird!

Vampire Knight--I was reading the manga before I actually watched the anime, but both were a stupid, cliched supernatural love story.
Yuuki is just a faux action girl who can't choose between her emo adoptive brother or her weird brother/bodyguard thing.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya--After reading the 1st light novel and watching some of the anime, I don't see where the hype comes from except from Haruhi acting up, which seems to be the entire plot. There's no other substance to it. It seems...hallow.

Fighting a case for One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto, DBZ,
Shounen battle manga is like that... They drag on and on... like soap drama...
That is just how the genre is like...

Fractale was one anime everyone seemed to be talking about seeing when It was first released last year. Then, everyone complained about how the story was all muddled and how the characters were generic moe characters. Additionally, I think there was some dispute with the mangaka stating that the story was bad...

As for me, I thought the series was actually pretty decent, although nothing to write home about. I think it was released here in the states, however I didn't view the series as interesting enough to pick up the DVD.

I'm not stupid; I know what shounen anime is like, I watch it! All I'm saying there comes a point when things need to end. Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z (mainly those 3), and One Piece have been milking it far too long. They were all likable in the beginning, but then it just gets boring / annoying when it's the same thing episode, after episode for 200+ episodes and it isn't even nowhere near the final arc. I can't say much for Fairy Tale because I didn't watch it much, but for the others I stand by my opinion.

At the very least, you could say that they lived up to the hype right...?!
... Unlike some other animes out there that is outright overhyped...!

3. Clannad "Sigh.' Here we go, I know i'm gonna get flack for this. Once more, I greatly enjoyed Clannad and found it to be a really touching series, but it just wasn't "awesome" to me. Similarly, it wasn't the "saddest series evar" to me either. To me, it was very good, but not extraordinary. After Story was better, but still falls into this category for me.

When I read this I almost stood up and punched my computer screen while yelling "LIES ALL LIES"

But then I realized that you actually have a good point. Heck It's overhyped and I'll admit it. I personally hype it way too much. It's always like this:

Me: "You want to cry your eyes out? Okay watch Clannad."
Friend: "The beginning is so SLOW!"
Me: 'Yeah... well you have to get to the last half of the 2nd season before it REALLY gets good."

I guess to me I really love all the backstory and the investment you put into the characters that makes the ending worth it, but I also see how it's just plain boring, especially all of the first season.

----

Personally an anime that really let me down this season was Magi

I was super excited for an Arabian nights themed anime, and it just... sucked. I mean I guess it never really received any widespread hype, but I hyped it way too much in my own mind.

Also biggest let-down of MY LIFE was the ending to season 1 of Avatar Legend of Korra. (yes, not technically an anime. deal with it)

- Clannad. I think I'm the only person who didn't think it was sad.
- Sword Art Online. Great plot idea, but too much romance.
- D. Gray Man. I read the manga, and just couldn't get into it.
- Hellsing. Same situation as D. Gray Man.
- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The first few episodes were entertaining enough, but it quickly got boring. Need I mention "The Endless Eight"?

I'd say Lucky Star. It was pretty funny (minus that troll of a first episode), but it wasn't nearly as good as its popularity suggested.

Arcana Famiglia: The first episode was interesting, the rest... eh, not so much

Sword Art Online: I personally enjoyed it, but it doesn't deserve its 8.43 Score on MAL and all the popularity it gets. Just read the reviews on it, need I say more?

Durarara: Baccano version 2.0, it was enjoyable but didn't live up to it predecessors. The first half was great but episodes 13 and beyond are... boring to say the least

Guilty Crown: Another one I personally liked and doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. But as a few I must admit it had major flaws. Not to mention it is a huge Code Geass rip-off.
