You have 20 or so people to choose from, for a variety of jobs, and you don't think ONE might do a good job? That sort of just sounds like either you expect perfection (never going to happen), or you don't have a clue what you think a "good" candidate even is. It's one thing to say you don't give a shit, I'm kind of all right with that. But to say that no one running for any office, even locally, would do a good job by any standard, seems kind of like BS to me. Hopefully you can give a good answer to this, because I haven't yet heard a satisfactory (I'll admit that "satisfactory" is a little subjective) response but, how does a candidate earn your vote? You at least know that, right?

well i don't know who those 20 people are, it's mainly romney and obama that get heard these days. so i don't know where the others stand or whether i should care.

what i do know that neither obama or romney meet my standard for being president and i won't waste my time voting for someone that doesnt have a chance in hell of winning

They tell you who's running on the ballot. There's Senate, House of Representatives, there's other county and state positions. I would even argue that those votes probably affect your life more than the presidency. I'm just asking what a candidate must do to earn your vote. Even if you just consider the presidency though, do you only consider the bad points of each candidate? If either gets elected, is there really nothing you think they might do right? As far as I can tell, if someone doesn't have a preference between two things, then they don't have a viewpoint (in politics or otherwise). If I were asked to vote between two surfboards, I wouldn't vote, because I don't have a damn clue what I think a good surfboard is. There's probably good and bad things about each surfboard, but I don't have any motivation to choose a surfboard, because I don't surf. It's a little bit different when someone else decides how to spend my money. I have preferences because I have a view on how my money might best be spent. Thus, I have a reason for choosing between two of the people that might be spending my money. Even if they are both dolts, one might still be preferable to another. I've never heard anyone with your reasons for not voting explain to me what they think a good candidate even is. How does someone earn your vote?

Voted by mail a few days ago. And even though in CA my Presidential vote doesn't count, I still voted for Romney.

Oh, and on a side note, here in CA there is a political ad voiced by the Illusive man. lol
I was watching the ad the other day and was like where have I heard that voice before!?

the truth is i will never vote, simple as that. i find the whole thing to be equivalent to a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

I VOTED.

People who can vote but don't and then complain about issues in near future are the best people..

There are more then Pres. elections on the ballots and if you don't vote because you don't like Obama or Romney..then you have fail as a person in taking action in other area's you could of voted on. Sad people...really sad.

If you don't like the major two then toss your vote to another party and if you don't know them then who cares. As someone said if you expect perfection then your in for an rude awakening. Just vote on what matters. There is more important issues that reflect your local/state community that could really use a vote on at least.

@CainNight232
im sure those issues will haunt us whether we voted or not

I have the freedom to vote, i CHOOSE not to because i am free to do so. it never ceases to amaze me that i get condemned for not voting, it's almost like i HAVE to vote, i have no choice in the matter of deciding to vote.
