Romney 2016! The Electoral college won't be going away nor should it; it gives small states a voice in the Federal government - if you look at a county map, Romney won in a landslide. If there is any change, they should award votes per congressional district instead of "winner takes all." Obama has been a colossal failure ...but Americans want him anyway. I won't be signing up for Obamacare in any case - let them enforce the fine if they can.

I get people who don't like opposing policies. What I don't get is why people like/voted for Romney when he was caught lying and changing his own policies towards the end. Also why was Obama such a letdown? Are you rich? The only people who had to pay for obama-care was the wealthy and even then mostly the top 1. Do you not like the idea of free health-care? Jesus christ, he came in when the market was collapsing and stabilized it. Next year when you don't have to pay when someone wrecks your car and you end up with a broken jaw please at least thank him. He didn't do all he was supposed to do granted, but he never fucked up or pulled a bush and go from the biggest surplus in US history to one of the biggest defeciets. Bush implemented the bush Tax cuts for the wealthy...mad that that unesscissary cut is gone? Romney has nearly indentical policies to bush( who ruined the country) and you want to go back? Just when we start getting back on track people want someone in office who's plan is non-existent to them and to the canidate. People who blindly want change when things aren't going there way or as fast as they want, are the same thing as spoiled brats....wait now I get it.

I completely agree with you, I don't get why people will stick with someone who can't stand by his own belief like Romney. He was awesome before he ran against Obama, then he gave me reasons to switch over lol. Obamacare isn't really a free health-care rather inexpensive healthcare for everyone. watch this & you will understand it more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nW9L7cSop4

To the comment getting quote, most of the lands that makes up most parts of majority of the mid-west states are just farming lands and lands people don't live on. The voting system is base on population which determines the amount of reps for the elector college, and these are basic high school stuff which you should already know. The fine can be enforce since it's a form of tax, a right given to the government by the constitution.

pretty much this. not voting either

You might have not voted as a protest, but how not voting works is, "both guys are great with me!"

Anybody that wanted to protest vote had to vote third party. Those are the only people who count as protest voters.

If everyone who thinks "the system sucks, I'm not voting" thought, instead, "the system sucks and I'm going to say so by voting third party", the total third party vote would probably be over 10%, instead of under 5%.

No he didn't ~ that was just silly mess media types who had bought the storyline put out by the Romney campaign that they were leading in the national polls despite the last three days showing Obama in the lead. Then during the early counting, Romney led, because of time zones with the Southern States in the Eastern time zone and California, Washington and Oregon all going to back Obama by a substantial margin in the Pacific Time Zone.

On the morning after, it stands:
Obama 59725608
Romney 57098650

Al Gore says hi.

If the recount had proceeded state wide, the best estimate that is made is that Al Gore would have won Florida. So its not "stupid electoral college", its "stupid state party control of voting rules".

My point was that Al Gore did win the popular vote.

Therefore, even if Mitt Romney had won the popular vote, anyone complaining he should have taken the election would also be admitting that Al Gore should have taken the election in 2000.

i have a question oh wise one

why do we have the popular vote if the elector of any electoral college can simply ignore the majority for a candidate of their choice? i can understand if it's a dead lock situation, but this wouldn't fall under it.

Mit Romney got my vote! It's sad he didn't win though. Thankfully the Republicans took the house though. ^_^
