Nope I'm afraid. Being a robot stops me from doing all that spiritual stuff.

Actually, if you dig deep enough into the media-yes, where hipsters dig- you'll find something fantastic that you'll love. Sure, it's no Freddie Mercury or Van Halen. But you'll find something, I guarantee you. It depends if you're willing.

I don't get many shows in my neck of the woods not to mention under 18 one's... have to wait a few months so I can travel to London and see some. lol i know some of those people... luckily there's a close community in hip hop especially with a nexus of artists all diverse. I'm still wishing to see an Al'Tarba set when I visit Paris this year.

That sucks you're currently relegated to under age shows for now, but on the plus side one of the best labels of all time Ninja Tune is based in the UK, so you'll get to see a lot of shows that never make to my neck of the woods...

Hipsters don't care about how good the music is, only that they heard it first so they can act all pretentious about it and shit....

for those that like hip hop with an Asian twist check out Onra:

He's french, but all his samples are from 60's and 70's Asian LP's

Also if you don't already know about DJ Krush, he's the dopest Japanese DJ of all time. DJ Kentaro is nice too. True turntablism!!!

I blame the RIAA for the lack of originality in music (in the US at least). They've gotten it into their heads that the public only likes certain kinds of music, so they promote that to death and come up with a million different copycats of the same style. The RIAA in the US limits consumer choice so its very difficult to get music from overseas via "legal" channels unless some foreign act finally becomes popular here. Like Psy for instance, or maybe a few British artists get attention over here from time to time, and that's about it. Walk the street of the US and name a dozen or so different UK artists and/or bands (exclude U2, Elton John, the Beatles, etc) and very few will have heard of them. Almost nobody here, except for a handful of otaku, will recognize names like Ali Project, Orange Range, L'Arc en Ciel, KOTOKO, Ayami Hamasaki, Morning Musume, BoA, ClariS, and etc. They also use badly constructed copyright law as a weapon to punish those who go against the status quo, or challenge their monopoly over our culture.

This is why I don't listen to Top 40 American music anymore. I listen to Jpop, Kpop, independent unsigned artists, and electronica (usually vocal trance and ambient).

Music is more abundant and varied now than in any other point in history, there is no use complaining about music because there are so many different types nowadays.

you're an idiot. there's still good music today even if you're unwilling to try and dig through the crap to get to some really golden bands.

There is LOADS of well-made, structurally impressive music coming out all the time today.

Just because the main-stream, radio hits have a tendency to be of a more simplistic style, doesn't mean you can't find the good stuff.

You only think that in the times we live right now, exits only bad music, cause that's the only type that is being promoted, but there is still good music, you just have to search for it.
