Or look for stuff that's not so well-known.
I for one, avoid autotuned stuff as much as I can, but nowadays, it's freakin' everywhere, killing my poor ears.

Although I love dreampop and don't mind autotune(808s and heartbreak is amazing), I think the overuse of gated reverb in the 80s was much more obnoxious.

Let me explain. If someone makes bad music, no one listens to it.
If they make good music, people listen to it forever.
To solve your problem, don't listen to any music that hasn't been around for 20 years. That way, all the music you listen to will have survived at least that long, thus not being atrocious.
Or you can start actually looking for good music. Video games are full of good music. It's almost a requirement for good games. Shitty music = shitty game in any instance I can think of.
That being said, I think music is trending more back towards classical. The way that video game culture has grown, mixed with the movies, people are listening to some of the new pieces coming out and really liking them, so they tend to want to keep listening. That means John Williams is the man who started a revolution.
But that's just my point of view.

There was a time in my youth where all you needed was about three cords ansd you knew EXACTLY what was about to come on. One prime example; AC/DC's Highway To Hell.Three chords. That's all you need.
Another example. Rush's Tom Sawyer. ONE chord. And the crowd goes wild.
And another; The Door's Light My Fire.Three notes on the keyboard does it.
I have heard a lot of today's music in the past few years, and what I've heard has not impressed me very much.It all sounds pretty much the same to me.Back in my day, there were plenty of songs about sex. Back then, the words could convey what exactly was going on. Now, basically, it's, "let's go screw in the middle of the road", only with worse language. And don't even get me started on rap, In my opinion, today's music has gotten harsher in lyrics and mediocre musicianship backing it up. Just me, I guess
Oh yeah. I will leave you with two words.

Let's play the musical drinking game*! It's really quite simple: just listen to a bunch of popular songs and every time you hear the word "baby", take a drink.
*Don't actually play the musical drinking game, you will die.

That's been true for a very long time.

I think a lot of you are being biased and uninformed. There is plenty of good music being made today, it's just that you have to find it.
