I hate modern pop music, its very rare that I find pop songs I like... pop songs in English that is. I love k-pop, c-pop, and j-pop though. That's probably because 1. the singers actually have talent and 2 because I can't understand the lyrics. When I look up the lyrics its really just as bad quality as American pop music lyric wise.

My all time favorite genre is Alternative ugh its just so good. I wish more alternative bands were popular but at the same time every time an Alternative bands gets popular it pisses me off that people who've only heard one or two songs by the recently popular act like they're such huge fans. With Imagine Dragons for example once Radioactive got popular I kept hearing a bunch of people who pay attention to the pop genre say they were such huge fans. Its fine if you hear about a band after they got popular then actually listen to more than five of their songs and actually are a fan. Its the "fans" who can only name two songs that piss me off. That probably goes for every music genre though. It especially pisses me off about the Alternative genre since I've grown up with the genre.

I'm probably one of the few people I know that actually enjoys almost everything music has to offer. Classical, Jazz, Modern Pop, Metal, R&B, Rap, Folk, Electronic, etc etc... I love it all.

i appreciate different types of music for what they have to offer, so i listen to a wide variety of music. music is subject to personal taste. when i think of people saying "good/bad" music, i think about how many of these people actually know anything about the fundamentals of music/playing a musical instrument (which is not to say that knowing technical aspects of music is the only way to be able to "judge" it, but for it to be a fair judgement, i would say that knowledge is key--no pun intended ;P). my true props go to a composer, who can play a wide variety of instruments at a skilled technical level; someone who can play an instrument virtuoso; or to those who compose music on a simpler level, but have the lyrical command of a poet.

until recently, whenever someone asked me what kind of music i listen to, i used to say, "everything".
& then someone asked, "everything? you listen to taylor swift?" & then i realized, i DON'T listen to "everything".

i don't listen to taylor swift.

I am with the plague of dub-step and and whatever is on the radio in my area. The bands I listen to started to suck so now I resorted to listening mostly to Vocaloid featured composed music.

The quality of what gets radio play today is just as good/bad as its always been. People have selective memory when it comes to anything "that was way better back then". People just like to feel hip and indie by hating what's popular so they ignore how bad some of the top hits in 70's, 80's, 90's, etc. were so they can act like pseduo-hipsters.
