I'm deeply disturbed by the radio.

However, there's some really amazing music that's come out of this century. I guess it's heavily reliant on personal taste and genre though. It definitely seems less prevalent and harder to find as well.

There is a lot to explain about why music is being made 'poorly'. The short answer to a long story is that major record labels want money. Ilegal downloading has hurt the industry (despite what people might say) and has stemmed more liberal creativity for fear of even more profits lost. However, internet has made it possible to more easily access music from independent/lesser known artists and while some just try to hop the trends in the hopes of making money, there are those that make music just to make what they believe is 'good' music.

When I was attending a Baltimore Blast (that's a professional indoor soccer team) game last week, during teams warm ups there were 4 songs played in a row that all had the same recycled beat in a different tone. One of them was that damn annoying Flo Rida song we've heard shoved down our throats like 1000 times now.

I shook my head when the 4th song came on and said to myself, "wow can they not even try to be creative anymore?". Then in the 4th quarter they played "call me maybe"....lyrics made no sense, and Gangnam style. I'm not even going into that one.

Creativity in mainstream music is on life support. These days I listen to some rock, classical, instrumental, and mostly video game music. Once in a while I'll listen to a little jazz, and even some 1940's music too.

It's hard for me to get into most mainstream music because it's not creative enough or it's forced on me.

All depends on what you listen to.........turn off the radio and go find music you like online.

If you haven't already, give mumford and sons a shot. I feel like they have something that almost everyone can find and enjoy.

Tons of good music that came out in the 21st century, that will probably be played for another few centuries.

IDK what people are listening too....But it's probably not good seeing all the negativity....

and with the invention of DUBSTEP WUBWUBWUB....Pffft, 21st century is best.

Music being made today is awesome.
The reason most people think otherwise is because they only scratch the surface. They only see what's popular and mainstream.
And that's not where the good music is. You've gotta dig a little to get to the good stuff.

The creator of this thread has a great point. To be honest, most of the songs I listen to were made before 2000. I'm a bit disturbed as to why people have begun to listen to all this garbage and I think that they lost their style in the new century. It's like dancing. People used to do the twist and other cheerful fun dances, but now there's just people grinding on the dance floor. It's really horrible how a lot of the world has changed.

For me, most songs I have are from 2007 on down. Rarely does anything past 2008 get on my Ipod. I don't even listen to the radio.

I have like songs from the 50's,music even earlier than that, 60's, 70's,classical, 80's, 90's,early 2000's, and all those other genres that would take to long to list.

I feel like the music today is sooooo soulless and without thought.Like just make a catchy beat with a hook and you get 100 mil views.
Or maybe my taste in music has stopped and is stuck with the old?

Like a few people have said you have to find the good stuff. It's not just going to suddenly appear in your lap wrapped in a gift basket with colorful ribbons and a welcoming greeting card. Also, not having faith in the next generations of music performers is how it'll slowly fade away. Even if it's just a little.

Gawd, no kidding. I miss the good ol' music. :(
I usually listen anything from 60's to 00's, since music has gotten pretty bad nowadays.
It'll be weird hearing all this on the oldies station I must say.
