So a game about an MMO that your character can't log out of...but you can log out from your character? Nope, there are already enough pitiful excuses for MMO's. I'll stick with the show.

Just started watching SAO...I can honestly say that I would completely cease to have a life if they made a MMO even close to SAO ._.

It's definitely coming, and while it may not be here in the same sense as SAO in the next 10 years, I'd say it's a very good chance we'll have something along the lines of Denou Coil in this short(yet seemingly endless) time frame perhaps even much sooner. I've been seeing the mind reading technologies around for quite some time and they've always shown promise that it won't be long for incredible levels of control but each new version only seems to be an ever so slight upgrade over the previous. I find it doubtful that much will change in this area over the next 10 years but perhaps AR gaming will push this and give this area the much needed money to develop it faster. But as one user mentioned with PTSD from gaming, it should be taken as a very real problem and even if the tech exists it should be understood to a high degree before coming to every child worldwide.

We already have augmented reality glasses in the works: Google Glass and a Microsoft patent for a true VR glasses.

I say that we are the ones that will make an SAO game possible. If people show interest and effort, others find interest and support the cause. Why do you think the Oculus Rift Kickstarter was so successful?

Not about the virtual reality aspect of sword art but when watching some of the alpha testing for the Final fantasy realm reborn videos it actually seems a little like SAO lol but if they have a VR game to the degree of sword art it will be like my heaven xD

If there Was a VR Game I would do it. I would hop in for beta without much thought. I was recently diagnosed with a vestibular disorder so I've personally had to cut back on my gaming. If there is a way I can play and alleviate some other problems at the same time I'd do it in a heart beat. Even if I get trapped like in Sao. What can I say though. I'm a gamer to the core. I will say I'm happy to see others moving forward with VR to a point. I just hope that no one will forget the beauty in this world either.

It would be cool if they had it made for acutal virtual reality if there was one. I think there are only a few games that can use virtual reality goggles ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdWJ45PE4Ps ) but MMOs like SAO would be awesome in them!

I hope I see VR gaming in it's true from (SAO, Alfheim etc.) during my lifetime, it's something that really appeals to me.

-sits down and puts on her serious face- Okay here are some clear and brutal facts about Sword Art Online that I'm concerned with that would make the game less likeable.

1. NerveGear- We don't have the right kind of knowledge or technology to create something far beyond our years, and also if you died in a SAO related game with the NerveGear, you'd either A. lose your mind and never come back to the real world or B. you would flat out die mentally and physically.

2.The Entrapment- Remember how at the 1st day of SAO Kirito tried logging out and found out that he couldn't because the creator Kayaba didn't want anyone to sign out until they reached the 100th floor? Yeah that's my biggest concern. I wouldn't want myself or others being trapped inside a video game for a long amount of time, not being able to return to reality and live a somewhat normal life.

3. Death- Remember how Kirito said that about 2,000 or more people died from the video game trying to get out of the game by removing their NerveGear or being killed in action or trying to make it to the 100th floor? Yeah that's also a big concern. I wouldn't want to die from a highly enjoyable video game and not being able to return to reality because I died for real. Think about how many families and loved ones we're talking about here that will miss their kids/wifes/husbands/relatives that died from this game. You'd be basically wiping out the entire human race. Now I know that some survived and they were immediately logged out after the game was beat by Kirito, but what if this game that might get developed was unbeatable? Then what? We sit there and try to beat it and die trying?

I honestly won't buy the game if they come out with a similar SAO game or an exact replica. It's too much to comprehend and too many lives would be at stake. I wouldn't even support the development of the game.

You can have SAO without all the "can't-log-out-and-thousands-will-die" stuff. Look at SAO's beta, and all the games that came after the SAO incident.

You don't even follow the series, do you?

Actually I do follow the series. Right now I'm waiting for episode 25 to come out. I know about ALFhiem Online and GGO but I was mostly talking about the 1st game Kirito played, I was quite aware of the other games Miss. Thank you for stating the obvious that I already know.

You know you can watch Episode 25 elsewhere.... And if you've read the Light Novel then it's no surprise on what's going to happen (if you haven't, even then it's kind of obvious what's going to happen).

Anyhow, yeah! I really want to play a game that follows the same mechanics as SAO.

There is a similar game coming out called Soul Workers, made by Korean developers Lion Games. It's in development but certainly something to look forward too.

Check it out!

I have to say a SAO style game would be great but I think I will stick with 3D at the most. Personally we are barely at a point where the human brain is able to be mapped. Yea we have the basic lay out of the brain but think good enough to produce what would be needed to where you could just lay down and play threw thought. Would be nice but just like in the show you have to worry about money grubbing companies and people out for their own well being doing things to you while you are connected. Lets face it big business is still not that trustworthy.

Next even if a game was made and all safety protocols were in place things still go wrong. Murphy's Law always comes into play. "What ever can go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible time". Just like in the show even though we will say it was not set to happen. A sudden glitch comes along and boom 100 out of 10,000 get fried. That would end things real quick or at least the developing company would get nailed with law suits and then there goes funding for the game. Well I a rambling but over all as a population we are far from where we need to be to have a Well made, safety orientated, issue free VR game. Then again those are just my thoughts and opinions.

I would most definitely play it, I mean, the anime is already really really awesome;
Though I wish that virtual reality helmet and stuff, they have in the anime, would be available here!

Agreeing with Nikki, but if they cancel out the death part that will at least be more safer for those concerned with IRL deaths,
