I've been wanting to get into J-Pop for a while now! I've only listen to songs by Arashi and ones in J-dramas. Please tell me some J-PoP groups/artists that are really popular right now!

well you could check out AKB48, Dream Morning Musume, and T.M.Revolution. those are the ones i hear a lot on the japanese radio stations here in okinawa. if you want a list of all of the jpop artists you can look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_J-pop_artists and see what ones u like.

If you like YUI, you will like miwa. Her debut song was "don't cry anymore" which was used in the j-drama "nakanai to kimeta hi". The song got really popular. She also sang for Ouran High School host club live action. And sang one of the songs in Bleach.

I love Namie Amuro! Play is my favorite album of hers. I listen to some Koda Kumi too.

If you like Arashi then I would suggest trying out the other groups in their agency, Johnny's & Associates. The active ones are SMAP, TOKIO, Kinki Kids, V6, Arashi, Tackey & Tsubasa, NEWS, Kanjani8, KAT-TUN, Hey! Say! JUMP, Kis-My-Ft2 and Sexy Zone. Like Arashi the members of these groups act in dramas so you may have actually seen some of them already in the dramas you have watched.

If you like more of a rock, Bump of Chicken is quite good!

Asian Kung-fu generation and Aqua Timez.

Their songs are awesome, especially bleach ops/eds.

I've been listening to Jpop since I was about 12 (now 29) and have listened to so much. It really depends on your tastes. What sort of Jpop have you heard that makes you want to hear more?

There's also two different types of "Jpop" to the American audience that a lot of people aren't able to tell the difference between. There's otaku Jpop (KOTOKO, Vocaloid, basically most of the anime openings you hear except for the occasional Shounen Jump title) then there's everyday, "normal" people Jpop. Sometimes "normal" bands do anime openings (Porno Graffiti, L'arc en Ciel, for example) that most everyday Japanese people have heard of in passing. I listen to both, but highly favor the latter.
