I've been listening to Deftones most of my life. They are also inadvertently responsible for my interest in Japanese culture, by me seeing J metal band Dir en Grey on tour with them about five years ago. Today they released a new album with a Japanese title “Koi no Yokan” which according to Wikipedia (I know) loosely translates to “anticipation of love”. Just wanted to see what everyone else thinks. Have your heard the album? Are the deftones big in Japan? Is that translation totally off?

It's so funny that Dir en grey toured with the Deftones when the Deftones had just released a record I loved and Dir had just released two records i hated.

and now, it's the reverse

Dir en grey got really awesome
and the Deftones got really bad

Well I guess we're polar opposites on this subject, well not completely, Saturday night wrist is my least favorite Deftones album and I love Diamond eyes. As far as Dir en grey goes I like the heavier sound but it's not my favorite. Oh well, bands and fans are never on the same page...

I LOVE Deftones (my top 5th fav band)! I grew up on them. I haven't heard their new album, but I'll bet it rocks. My fav albums are: Diamond Eyes, Adrenaline, Around The Fur, and Saturday Night Wrist.

Horns up!
