Hey everyone,

We're excited to announce that Crunchyroll will be at one of the premiere eSports events this year, IPL 5 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas! Crunchyroll is partnering with the IGN Pro League to sponsor an eSports cosplay contest, with the grand prize winner taking home $1000!

All of the cosplay events will be taking place on Saturday, December 1, 2012, with the meetups and pre-judging at the Crunchyroll booth. Contestants will then be taken onto the League of Legends stage in the evening where the winners will be announced in front of the audience and live on the stream!

Those of you who want to enter the live contest, please be sure to show up to the Crunchyroll booth at 5pm for pre-judging!! If you just want to hang out and take pictures with a bunch of other cosplayers, then stop on by any of our meetups throughout the day! In addition to the contest happening at IPL 5, we will also be having a Facebook "Like" contest post-event, so if you would like to enter that as well, come by the booth to have your picture taken!

The judges will be voice actress Cristina Vee, voice of Riven from League of Legends, cosplayer extraordinaire Missyeru, and Crunchyroll's own SailorBee!

Schedule:
1pm: StarCraft and ShootMania Meetup
3pm: League of Legends Meetup
5pm: Pre-judging
6:30p - 7p: Presentation of winners*

*Takes place between the LoL Winners Bracket Semifinals and Losers Bracket Round 4. Exact time will be dependent on the length of preceding matches.

*Note* You may enter both the IPL 5 event and Facebook contests, but if you win a prize at IPL 5, then you are not eligible to win again for the Facebook contest.

Contest Guidelines:

All Entries will be scored on both craftsmanship and presentation. Group entries will be judged as an entire group, with their score averaged over the entire group.

During Craftsmanship Judging - (Takes place at Crunchyroll table)

•The judges WILL inspect your costume up close. So be prepared to have your costume touched and be asked to show specific details.

•Entrants will only have 5 minutes per judging session (up to 10 minutes for larger groups). So if you have something special that you wish to highlight, make sure to point it out to the judges whether they ask you or not.

•The judges WILL ask you questions about your costume. Be prepared to answer truthfully and accurately.

•You DO NOT have to be in character while being judged. That wastes time and is unnecessary. Save it for the stage.

•Be CONFIDENT. Please don’t tell the judges what you did wrong. They want to know all the wonderful things you did right.

RUNWAY JUDGING – (Takes place on stage)

- Faithfulness to the original character and costume: 10 pts
- Skill in scale and body fit adaptation: 10 pts
- Overall construction: 10 pts
- Choice of construction materials, techniques and innovative methods: 10 pts
- General portrayal of the character (poses, charisma, etc.): 10 pts

Extra points may be awarded at the Judge’s discretion for construction done above and beyond the normal effort expected for a costume: Up to 15pts

Finally, points will be awarded at the Judge’s discretion for crowd reaction to a costume: Up to 15pts

Total possible points earned: 80 pts

Rules:

1. All characters must be from either League of Legends, StarCraft, or Shootmania franchises to participate.

2. All costumes and props must be made by either the contestant wearing the costume, fellow members of the entry group, or non-professional family/friends without monetary compensation.

3. Purchased or Rental costumes are prohibited. Found item costumes are ok.

4. All props must conform to IPL5’s Weapons Policy & Code of Conduct.

5. Overly large costumes and props are strongly discouraged. If you cannot easily get a costume or prop through a normal size doorway, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get it on stage. If a costume or prop is unable to appear on stage as part of your entry, it will not be considered as part of your entry for awards.

6. Costumes should not be constructed with messy substances or materials. Paint or make up should not come off during casual contact with others.

7. Costumes must be self-contained. Connections to electrical sockets will not be available.

The proximity of this post to that dude's rant about cosplayers showing up at non-cosplay events and taking attention away from the main attraction is ironic.

eSports and Crunchyroll, how do the two even fit :P

As an eSports enthusiast and person who works in the industry, I hope people are actually reading the text and rules to this.

I would do this if it was 10k

for a chance to win this, you'd need a great body and spend a huge some of money on the costume. or spend a great deal of money.

Heck it would cost over $1000 to get to that place.
