Nerve Gear.. a better gaming experience? and Oculus Rift
|
games like SAO won't be created before long son...don't try to think about it right now...even if they did some kind of version of it, it still wouldn't be like the anime ..

The main reason for this is because there are too many idiots that would stay logged in until they died due to starvation or lack of REM Sleep. There has been reports of people that died playing World of WarCraft for not sleeping for too many days. The closest we will ever get to Virtual Reality would be a wireless helmet for a TV in a room with Motion Capture cameras setup to tracking body movement and padded walls for when you walk into them. Have you ever heard of quantum theory? |

I think we should see if we could get the government attempting to develop it. in the novels, they talk about how nervegear/amusphere are used to help patients trapped in hospitals to feel like they can lead a more normal life. it's also speculated that the american military was trying to find a way to use it for military training, emphasized by the point that Sinon knew how to handle some weapons she'd used in GGO in the real world.

Holodeck with full tactile feedback like in Star Trek would be far better. Most all the benefits of the nervegear plus your body is actually being used instead of decaying. Of course the whole man-machine interface aspect of the nerve gear is deeply appealing.

It isn't as far fetched as it sounds its just tricking the senses into believing something that isn't really there, recent experiments have helped blind people see in a manner of speaking by manipulating the optic nerve and they have also created prosthetic limbs that can be controlled by the electrical impulse's from the brain. The science is still in its infancy and it might involve an operation but its not that big a stretch of the imagination to create a nerve gear. Although if that can be done the problem would be working out what's reality and what's fantasy.

You still need a controller for it. Only think that makes it different is the FOV. It makes you feel like you're in virtual reality. It's also 3D too.

I'd love it. I can think of a few games I wouldn't mind being stuck in. On a side note, its not quite like the Nerve gear more like the vr from ./hack.

Nerve gear in few years would definitely revolutionize the gaming market.

I would think it would really help certain people that are paralyzed.
I'd game on it for sure if it came out but I'd be a bit cautious with it potentially frying my brain and what not. |

No thanks. You never know what kind of problems something like that could facilitate. I got mildly electrocuted with a pen as a "joke"....now I suffer from nerve pain and inflammation occasionally in my hands.....sometimes it's so bad I can't write or use scissors..
Needless to say I wish I wasn't so nice and kicked the guy's ass who did that to me. |

Watching K-dramas instead of sleeping....;D

I want it NAO -.- Saw this photo on a group on here, but couldn't post anything on there, or get any info on the subject, but here goes: I know about another that has gotten pretty far towards this kind of tech. Its called the "Oculus Rift" But of course its not near as awesome as the nerve gear is But I guess its a step in the right direction.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculus_Rift It's actually coming out this January 2013. Thoughts? i think i would rather wait for the type kirito's sister has just because i don't want to be stuck in SAO for ten years trying to beat the game. (i know it only took two years but i think it would take longer for us) |

Who can't wait for the Star Driver Movie? and the Code Geuss Movie either.
