Nerve Gear.. a better gaming experience? and Oculus Rift
|
The only way systems like this would become a common occurance is if the state of humanity falls deep into despair. or closed system experiences become some sort of new trend.
Why do I say that? Simply because of the risks presented in such films like ghost in the shell, and the Matrix. The human brain like any other device can be tampered with and destroyed. and a system that manipulates and uses the brain to send and receive information is dangerous. If humans however became digitized or vast amounts of time was necessary to be spent in a digital state of mind, then I can see technologies begining to take hold. (Long term space travel, waiting for the end of the world etc. etc.) |

Yeah, that's the thing xD I would like to have it look like anime, but the thing is... Anime looks only good in 2D When it gets 3D it get's weird, unless you change up much of it, I would probably go with the more reality look-a-like :P ya, honestly i think i would much rather have it anime looking, but i just don't know how anime looks 3D... I've never seen a real 3D object thats animated before xP Red. definitely red :P darkelder wrote: I think what your saying is great but in my opinion they might not even have that after we have died it is such a advanced piece of technology and the stuff where just coming out now is just a little piece of technology in to what the never gear could have been. And like transporting all your senses to a virtual reality would be the biggest issue in the matter who would want to test that it could really hurt someone if they did it wrong so it would take a long time to do all the stuff that is needed to make it and get it fully up and running with out any problem. But on the other hand because i game i would like to see what that would be like not just using the W,A,S,D to move your guy/girl or a controller but the character moving with what u would do in real life it would really be fun call me sad, but if the option were given to me, hell ya i would test that out! i don't think they would find a lacking of willing participants, especially since i don't think they would move to human testing unless they were ready and pretty certain they wouldn't jack your brain up for life. and as far as the fact it would take a long time, some estimates have full immersion VR dated to within 10-15 yrs. even the long estimates have it within our life-time |

A co-worker of mine got a private interview at CES with the VP of product engineering Nate Mitchell and he got to try the goggles out. He said that it was so immersive that he couldnt believe that he was still in the hotel room when he took the goggles off, heh.

IMO there will never be a headgear that can make you feel like your in a game. The only thing, in recent memory, that can put you in a game is to put the game in your head. Basically, like downloading to the brain like in the Johnny Mnenonic movie or the other Reeves movie The Matrix where a direct interface with your brain to make the CGI world seem real.

Most theorize that no it will not be headgear, but rather nanobots that will interact directly with your neurons |

The most likable device is a augmented reality... a device that directly project image into your eye... Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK_cdkpazjI&list=PLDCE607D0FCC3E8A3 |

JayVeeDees wrote: I might be posting this in the wrong section, but what do you all think about the idea of you being transported into a game? I'd Love ittt!! I want it NAO -.- Saw this photo on a group on here, but couldn't post anything on there, or get any info on the subject, but here goes: I know about another that has gotten pretty far towards this kind of tech. Its called the "Oculus Rift" But of course its not near as awesome as the nerve gear is But I guess its a step in the right direction.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculus_Rift It's actually coming out this January 2013. Thoughts? EDIT: Here are some other things I didn't know about, be sure to check it out, I won't be an ass and copy paste it into this thread, but that's something that has gotten further than the Oculus Rift! http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-782072/neuro-headset Its actually INCREADABLY easy to make something like nerve gear, its never releaced for the exact reason SAO gave, that is hacking, such machines are increadibly susceptible to such things, that and similar devices only controlled nerve impulses one way. (You don't know if you're getting killed in real life, or even if your soiling yourself.) |

Now here's the real question, would you risk having your brain hijacked if it ment nerve gear that linked you into an anime?

Looking at another 20 years or so before we see that technology.

Why would need this where I can just create a whole Universe in my mind? Have you guys heard of lucid dreaming? This technology is redundant.

I can already control reality with my mind, banning me is pointless.
