RIP Hostess! Farwell Twinkees, Cupcakes, Ding Dongs?

Sounds like the union did the worst job of all! The exec pay raise does sound fishy but I blame the workers and their union more (shutting down a company? REAL smart). My job had a really nice pension that went from 5% to .25% - these things HAVE to be done today, the Hostess pension and med was simply unsustainable (like Obamacare will be).

I would blame crap business practice, even if the strike was the final nail in the coffin. It's not the worker's fault that management didn't know how to handle a brand. And they raised their own salaries while asking for the cuts? Workers were in a bad sitiation to begin with, strike or be shit on.

I would blame not getting with the times. I'm sad about Wonder Bread more than the other products because sometimes I actually eat it. The rest of it is so sugar filled it's not worth holding on to.
However, I do wonder about the old man that's eaten Twinkies every day for 70 years . . . http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A46062-2005Apr12.html |

A pinnacle of union success.
Even the TEAMSTERS UNION was telling the Bakers Union TO GO BACK TO WORK. They reviewed Hostess books and stated that the company was not lying about it's position. But the Bakers' Union obviously never heard the expression "half of a loaf is better than no loaf at all." Good job, union leaders and rank and file, you've destroyed the company and now have nothing, |

After the ballerina had drawn her last breath, the twisted demon tritely smiled.

Apparently there is a White House sponsored petition to petition the president to nationalize Hostess and then sell it back to the Union - ya know, like GM; need to keep buying votes after all - only "4 more years"!

Why Hostess? I loved you! I loved you so much!

Life is short so have a dance party

Hope Dad can snag one last box of Chocolate creme ones. I liked those better than the original twinkies

Life is a bitch, so if its easy your doing it wrong

Yeah, maybe the company's going under, but I guarantee that Twinkies and all those other treats aren't going anywhere. SOMEONE will buy the reduced-priced rights and make more. And even if they do stop, someone else will make something similar. I don't eat that much Hostess, anyway, so it's not a big loss in my book, food-wise.

I don't eat any of this stuff anymore, but did they make fudge rounds. My brother loved those! He used to eat nothing but Chef Boyardee ravioli and fudge rounds.
