It's probably better for our collective waistlines, and it is a bit sad the union refused to make concessions even to save their members jobs. Not much point paying dues if all they do is get the plants shutdown, which seems to be the trend for unions these days.

I haven't had a Hostess snack in years, so I can't say I'm terribly sad about this. I doubt that there won't ever be twinkies again, some other company will make them, probably under a different name though.

This country can do without all the snack foods Hostess made since we have en epidemic of diabetes here, but it is a shame to see 18000 jobs disappear, with healthcare and pentions to boot.

Little Debbie already has knockoffs for half of what Hostess was making. If they buy the name all they'd have to do is repackage their knockoffs and viola!

Hostess Outlets are a common place for low income people to get bread at exceptionally cheap prices.
Really sad to think of all these places closing.
Twinkies and ding dongs and all those are not going away. Some snack company will surely be buying the rights very soon.

i eat 2 to 3 twinkies a day so this is going to have a profound impact on my life. ever since hearing about this it's been like a nightmare i can't wake up from. hopefully some company buys the recipe soon.

As a Wonder Bread fan, this is a damn shame. Once again (oh here we go...) it's another case of a union and it's greedy members becoming bigger than the company they work for, and this time it struck a long standing company like Hostess.
