the only flaw i really notice in fairy tail is that the arcs are SO LONG. like the tenroujima arc, that was about 20 episodes. i mean, that's just way too long. but otherwise, i think fairy tail is great.

what flaws do you guys notice about fairy tail?

I think you hit the nail right on the head! The characters are totally lovable, but the arcs are really long, and so many of them have the same format, only the "bad guy" changes. I actually quit watching it a few months ago because I was tired of it NEVER giving any information on the whole Igneel thing. It probably has revealed something by now, but it lost my interest. I keep thinking I'm gonna pick it back up, but just haven't yet.

Yea i agree the arcs are long. If you read the manga, it looks like fairy tail is about to reach its conclusion though. More info about igneel has shown up and such.

Personally I dislike the Deus Ex Machina asspulls they use to have their characters win fights.

I mean I understand that practically all shounen do this, but during the Tenroujima arc when, the ending to that fight made me want to punch my computer screen.

Also, it would be nice to see somebody actually be on Gildartz level

Arcs are long? What?

The first arcs till the Fighting Festival were no longer than 8-10 episodes. Then the arcs did get longer during Oracion Seis and Edolas arc and got to about 20 episodes. And I will admit that those two arcs did start to drag. But then Tenrou Island arc came, longer than the previous two but it never felt that it dragged. Maybe because that was just because I found Tenrou Island arc to be completely boss. Then the Grand Magical Game arc is just starting, but it looks like it's also gonna be a long one as well, we'll just have to see where it goes and hopefully it doesn't drag on. I think the arcs are just getting longer because there is something huge impacting on the story. Like Oracion Seis was the first main Dark Guild defeated, Edolas had to introduce a whole new world and parallel dimension versions of the characters that was a really cool idea. And then Tenrou was where Zerf made himself known as well as a lot of other stuff.

Also, I'm not an expert on the Big 3 anime since I've only watched Bleach beforehand, and that anime had arcs that were way longer than Fairy Tail's longer arcs.

Anyway, tangent over. Although I hugely enjoy Fairy Tail it's really an anime I watch for a laugh and a good time. It's no where near my top favourite anime but I still really enjoy myself, which is why I guess is that the issues I have with it don't bother me that much as other people might.

What I don't like about Fairy Tail is when Natsu steals the spotlight because he is the main character and he has to. I don't mean that I hate the fact that Natsu is the one to beat the final boss. But when he takes the glory from another character, the biggest example was when he punched Deliora, yes it's said that it Deliora was already dead, but come on! He stole the spotlight away from Grey and Ur.

I don't mind the nakama power ups, because fairy tail's main theme is the importance of friendship.

A little thing that annoys me is the character's "Power Levels". This isn't the show's fault entirely, in fact I'll be fine with it but I just get really annoyed when everyone is saying that Natsu is the strongest character. And although it was a good fight, Natsu fought Jellal way too early in the series. I have a feeling that he is one of the strongest characters in the show, but for some reason people think that Natsu is stronger because he beat him. Declining the fact that he had a temporary power, temporary being the key word, and he was injured before from the fight with Erza.

There are also some minor announces, such as the wasted potential with Lisanna. I'm not sure if she will ever have an importance to the story in the future, but she could bring something out of both the NatsuXLucy and the NatsuXLisanna shippers. I think it just gets to me because her story made me cry, but she is doing literally nothing now, like I don't think Natsu has even spoken to her yet.

Prefer long arcs to the much more common wrapping up entire arcs of Manga/LN in 1-3eps. For example SAO, trimming the fat of the material and taking out a lot of the depth as well.

Fairy Tail is overall based on friendship and bonds, so i think it follows that well and is good for what it is. As a long running anime it shares the same faults as the others and that is shit filler material.

Btw, this arc starts to cover more on the history of the world.... guessing here but i am expecting the next arc to delve into it a lot

Yeah, Lisanna was just brought back for shock factor and nothing less it seems.

Well, I really hate how you have to pay to see the episodes, and episodes after the Fight Festival arc are blocked on YouTube.

I guess I gotta make do with the manga, which is pretty epic at the moment, and you don't have to put up with fillers, which is always a bonus

I personally don't mind the current amount of episodes of one arc because the alternative may very well be lots and lots of fillers....That's just how I see it. I do on rare occasions wish the show would go faster.

I think that there are a myriad of flaws in fairy tail, and anyone that really analyzes it for quality would be able to see that. I agree it is enjoyable but to make the assertion that the biggest flaw is lengthy exposition? I can't really agree. For me it would probably be the lack of characterization for the main character, because it saddens me that his flying pet cat has more character development than him. The biggest annoyance is probably the nonsensical power-ups that the fairy tail members get in the middle of a fight, and that the "power of friendship" is used as a legitimate source of power.
