Well, it's happened to me before. Lived up in Lake Tahoe, CA for 6 years, and there's been one or two times where we get 6-10 feet of snow in a night, and we wake up the next morning freezing our asses off with no electricity. Either that or we're all chillin in the living room at night and BAM!! Electricity goes out.
It's pretty easy to adapt to, though, even if the electricity is out for several days. Just light a candle at night and read by candlelight. Play board games. And eat.... lots of food >:D

What we do? We tell ghost stories around the dinner table, or gather in the living room and chat about a lot of random things. We also take the opportunity to reminisce our childhood and laugh at how silly we were. Other times, we sit together huddled, and play with a candle by creating shadows on the wall.
It doesn't happen all that often, but most of the time when the electricity did die, we make up something to fill the boredom. And yes, we do all these stuff together as a family.

Sadly, I think I may get a lot more done. But then again, technology also helps me with my work. I would probably realize really soon how great of an invention it was.
