Where do you meet others into Anime?
|
So, I meet a lot of people on a daily basis especially due to doing customer service at work. However, it seems rare in the real world (non-internet) that I happen upon others who love anime, and I know I am not alone on this one. Cons are obviously a great place and a lot of fun. But besides them, is there any place in particular you have found yourself becoming acquainted with others that love anime?

If you were to look for soccer fans, you would go to a stadium. For anime they probably have some kind of gathering at times. Also you could try comic con, most likely many anime fans there.

I used to talk to people about anime in anime sections of video stores, but these days it's all about the internet and we don't even have any small video stores in our area any more. I guess that the manga section of book stores and libraries might be a good place as well to strike up a conversation about anime with somebody.
If you're out of school and don't want to go to conventions, then finding like minded people really is a difficult task. Personally I just live with the fact that I'm the only otaku out of all of my friends. If I get really desperate to share in my fandom, I can periodically get one of them to try out certain titles, and they will generally enjoy it. They rarely stick with anime as a whole though. C'est la vie. |

it's hard for me to find people that are into anime... and it's even more rare to find people my age that like anime and also like other things that i do. usually when i do stumble across another person that likes anime they tend to be a little socially/shower/other interest challenged. so i'm very thankful for crunchyroll! conventions would probably be a good way to meet other anime fans, but i haven't been to one on awhile. i should do that..

I don't really know, don't think there is a easy way to find people into Anime, unless there is some sort of gathering, I don't know if there is in your area-.-
But there are some gatherings that you could go to find them, Comic con is a great example, but I don't know if there are any small events out there. I know of an event called Barcraft, that is when you go to a bar and watch LoL or SC tournaments, or as the first post suggested: If you are a soccer fan you go to a soccer bar or a stadium. I don't know if there is anything out there that is like this, because it would be kinda different xD, but maybe in the future people would think like that. There is always that you could host an event yourself to see if people come <.< But I don't really think this would happen so lightly without some sort of reasoning My best guess is that you go to a comic store at best. Sorry to not being much of a help:p |

Yeah, I think when I am back in school this upcoming term that may be my best bet. And of course, as many have stated as well, the cons will be a good place to meet and talk to other people of similar interests.
