Anyone have a laptop with Core i7-3517U, and knows if it can handle 1080p 10bit files?

since it has only 2 cores, i figured it could be a issue.

have tested some 1080 10 bit on amd dual core, some i5 and it runs fine on the player i use for 1080 10bit
media player classic ~ home cinema http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
it does not matter if u got any dedicated gpu on your laptop because the build in intel gma hd 4000 will get the job done.
your laptop will able to run 1080 10bit flawlessly ^^

That will be fine for 1080p video. No modern processor should have any issue streaming high def video in general actually. Obviously if you are looking to do more than playback or stream your mileage may vary. I actually know some people who use laptops for full on gaming and all they have is a dual core i5. They don't get "max" settings obviously but it works.

Quad core OC'd here.

Get a good video card and watch the videos shimmer.
