So I just wanted to ask a question to the members of CR: When you watch an anime show, do you clearly remember the show and its plot, say, a year down the road?

For some strange reason, I can NEVER accurately remember an anime series. I mean I can remember most names and general plot but nothing more, and I don't have this issue with American shows :3. For instance, I watched Scr-y-ed a few months back but can not remember most things that happened in the show besides one or two main points.

Do does this happen to you guys as well? And I've watched A LOT of anime series over the years, so it can't be that I'm un-introduced to anime. (http://www.myanimelist.net/animelist/OrangeJewc)

I can usually remember most of what happens in a show, to the point where if I want to watch a show I've seen before, I usually just watch the first few episodes and the last few episodes and just remember the stuff that happens in-between. But remembering characters, plot points, and quotes is just a useless talent that I have.

Give me a picture and a name, and I will tell you what the anime is about 90% of the time.

There is so much a person can remember in a lifetime in which he or she will forget the unimportant ones or the important ones.

Recently I came across an old anime on my [url label="list+]http://myanimelist.net/animelist/AnimeKami&status=2&order=0 where I complete forgotten I had seen it. I did remember I saw said anime on Crunchyroll while this site was at its infancy where user are able to upload content. I vaguely remember what the anime is about... vaguely...

Well, let's see... anime I've watched in the past year or so...

KamiMemo: Average highschooler guy meets a group that does nothing but solve "mysteries" given to them by "clients." This group is run by a preteen girl who thinks she better than everyone else, barely eats, and drinks Dr. Pepper all day. A great 13 episode anime!

Kanon: A boy returns to a town he hasn't been to in... 7 years (I believe). He remembers close to nothing of what he did in this town other than the fact that he used to go every year. He starts meeting various girls that help to... jog his memory. Another great anime!

Usagi Drop: Man cares for the illegitimate child of his grandfather. It gets better. Awesome anime, in a laid back kind of way.

I remember those three pretty well. If I think long enough, I can remember specific moments in each one, too.

I guess some of it comes down to how much you liked an anime, or if you finished it. Does it fall into your preferred genre? Personally, I tend to remember things that are funny.

Just my thoughts.

I have a horrible memory -_____-

If i'm watching a show with about 13 eps

and if i'm about to finish. i would forget how it even started >____<

The only way i would remember is if the story is like SUPER interesting.

I really liked Mirai Nikki XD it's just very unique.

mebbe because anime plots are so similar? i kid i kid :P

i can say i remember a few really well, and they r the ones i have DVDs of, which i've seen more than once..

FLCL, Video Girl Ai, Kare Kano being my favs of all time ^_^

Also, ones I've seen recently (like within a year) i can usually remember the plot for.. so stuff like hanasaku iroha, kids on the slope, hunter x hunter (but only b/c i also read the manga)..

mega animes i usually forget, like bleach, gintama, naruto... but that means i can get like halfway into an ep before i realize i've seen it before >_>

It really just depends on whether I found the show memorable or not. I tend to forget most of what happened in an anime I didn't care for or only kind of liked in just a few weeks. However, if it's an anime that I loved or had an impact on me in some way, I'll remember most, if not all of what happened in the show.

Honestly it depends on whether I liked the anime or not. In books, movies, T.V. shows and of course anime and manga, I am able to explain the story, quote parts of, and otherwise narrate the work even if I haven't seen/read it in years. Of course that is if I liked it. I have watched stuff that I wasn't much fond of and I couldn't even tell you the names of the characters or what even happened, in less than a few days to a week.

If it has a great enough impact, then yeah.
For instance, if the plot was amazing or the characters had depth, then it would be worth memorizing. However, if it is either overated or unoriginal then that is no. The creators should take the time to make something memorable for the fans. If not, then obviously it's probably not worth mentioning.

I'm getting this right now reading the Fairy Tail manga, especially in the current arc. It's so spread out, which is good cause you know it won't end for a while, but I'm having trouble remembering a lot of the fights and stuff from earlier in the arc. It's hitting on about 50-ish chapters now, give-or-take, and I have forgotten a lot.

Depends on how interesting the anime is. Some of them get imprinted on my brain more than others.
