Sword Art Online: Plot being ruined.

Lol at least spell the person your trying to bash on name right, its Kirito..... unless you men't to do that. Also I like the flying combat wish they'd have a bit more but he only had a week to save her so they had to make him move through the game quickly and it was a game written over SAO so there was some data mishaps hence his high level. Though if you've caught up I think that has something to do with the creator giving him a boost.

Yes, I typed it that way as a way to mock him. If you didn't already notice the hinting from my post, I really dislike SAO -- i enjoyed the first episode but it went downhill after that.

From what I recall, ALO is a completely new game with the same systems as SAO; the fact that Kerrytoe (Kirito) had his stats transferred over is just. . . a very annoying thing to see. There are far too many plot devices to help Kerrytoe get along in the game. So many things play into the favor of just making Kerrytoe look awesome. . . It's bothersome and the fact that I've been assaulted for criticizing SAO on other fora has not helped my attempts to enjoy the show. Another problem is how serious SAO takes itself -- this makes it much more difficult to enjoy because you expect better from it.

I also don't buy the romance between Kerrytoe and Assuna; whilst we know that they've been fighting besides each other for two years in the frontline, the show offers little moments to expand the chemistry between the two characters. From what the anime has shown, it's easily interpreted as wish fulfillment. There were several flashback scenes of their encounters but none of them develop the romance between the two; the relationship between them feels empty.

The end of SAO really pissed me off, too; Assuna miraculously breaks through the paralysis implemented by a mod and manages to stop block an attack. I was screaming bullshit the entire time. Then Kerrytoe somehow manages to land a hit when he's dying. This part was breaking the logic established in the first few episodes. Oh, and how the two fucking survived despite us being told they when they die in-game, they die in real life.

I dropped the anime around episode 20/21 so I can't comment much on ALO but Sugou is just a terrible villain. He's a walking pile of cliches made to make Kerrytoe look awesome. He's the dragon that Kerrytoe much slay to save the princess, or rather the damsel in distress.

You pretty summed up how I feel about this anime, I see this series as an otaku's dream/fantasy(being in Kirito's shoes) and it's what makes me believe why it's so popular.

When I first saw episode one I thought that it would explore the elements of MMORPG(I mean who didn't?), I don't play them but I still thought it'd be neat, like when Klein was new to the game I thought it would explore more about the world of SAO. Instead, the series focuses on Kirito, a kid who has obvious Mary sue/Gary Stu traits, and forgets that they're in a virtual reality. That's when the plot got ruined, in my opinion that is.

I have no issue with people having differing opinions on SAO, my issue is this so called 'critiquing' you mention. As I've stated elsewhere a 'critic' to me is just an arrogant person that thinks they're opinion should be the 'right' opinion. So far its living up to my hopes so I'm fine with how serious it takes itself (considering lives are on the line even in ALO arc).

I will agree I wish Kirito and Asuna had more development (and lets be honest here, how many people would whine about if they went this direction?) but they only had 25 episode at this time to tell a story. Wish fulfillment for who exactly? and how would this be any different than someone in reality being married to someone that fit most of their desired traits?

The 'miraculous' recovery par/last strike even after deatht: do you know the nerve gear? do you know how it works? the game mechanics in detail? No you don't thus you really have no clue if there's a logical reasoning behind it.

What villain doesn't have several tropes in him? What's wrong with making the MC of the anime look like the 'knight in shining armor'?

People need to stop being so hyper-critical of everything and just watch the anime.

Don't like it?
Don't watch it

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I watched FMA since the day it was released, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, Fairy Tale, Ixion Saga, and I have watched probably 100+ seasons of anime in the last 12 years. if I didn't like something I skipped it, not make the people that do like it feel like tards.

For the viewer/the audience; it's pandering (not that it's entirely a negative). The kid gets the hottest looking chick in the game (and he encounters several other fair maidens).

I may have missed some details about the Nerve Gears so fill me in on them; I don't recall being given information on the Nerve Gear by the anime besides the fact that they deliver microwave-type waves to fry the brain when the player dies in-game. Is it then my fault that I don't understand how the helmets work? I made that comment base of what we were given and by what we were given, the show broke the logic established.

Except that Sugou is an embodiment of pretty much all these tropes. He's portrayed in the most negative light and given so little motive besides to tease Kerrytoe; I'll admit because I dropped the show at episode 20/21 that I have very limited information on Sugou. I've only seen .gifs of the actions he has done in the latest episode and it's laughable how bad his character is. Kerrytoe is the "knight in shining armor" whose luster outshines the light emit by the other characters. The characters lose their depth because of this and they become uninteresting and dull to watch.

People need to stop being so hyper-critical of everything and just watch the anime.

I mentioned earlier that SAO takes itself seriously so it becomes difficult for me to turn off my brain when I did watch it. I wish I could so I would be able to enjoy it but, alas, that is a task I cannot achieve. People have point out that SAO has potential and it did but it became wasted potential so it's frustrating to see things handled so poorly when it could be much better.

Yeah, this, I've seen so many people saying they disliked a show after episode x but continues to watch it until episode x+50 so there critique (which is often more like verbal assault haha) is valid.

Why would you watch so many episodes if you disliked it? Baffles me entirely!

Besides, you kinda expect it, with every variant of entertainment, hugely popular titles have very vocal sections of hate, where as unpopular titles seem to lack this. Weird huh? People just don't like it when something they dislike is popular, and further still I think some people dislike things because they are popular, hipsters and all that, the human condition.

First: Not hardly the 'hottest' female. 'Hot' is subjective so I don't really see anything in critiquing that. He goes with the female he most likes/cares for the end. I personally would go for Leafa/Sugu but that's me.

Second: The point is you don't know what the nerve gear is capable of and tbh its not completely on the author to tell you as it could be a background element as far as he/she is concerned. If say the helmet were to convert human will power/emotion into the game then its possible a player could over-ride the game's system. Add to this that in several rpg's paralysis isn't per se always locked in place just 90% of time then it also makes sense.

Third: And you don't think there are total monsters out in the world? Not every villain needs some redeemable quality.

Fourth: What I've seen is people pulling at each and every little detail they can find just to tear apart a series. SAO is telling a story simple as that. And what you see as 'potential' others would complain about from here to the moon if it were put into place because not everyone thinks the same way thus why 'critics', imo, should go retreat into their little holes and not insult a series.

It has some flaws that have irked me, but if you just want something cool and simple to watch - then you will probably enjoy SAO.
