And your point? There was no 'intercourse' between any family members.

AsuraCryin.
I think most people would just see a show they dont enjoy, shrug their shoulders and move on.
Is there any need to go into such boring detail about this?

Incest is sex between relatives, this is an anime, so none of that is possible. The argument of incest in SAO is laughable, because Kazuto had absolutely no improper thoughts or feelings about his cousin, it was all unrequited love on Sugu's side and nothing more.

Nakaimo would be a better example of any kind of incest than SAO. And by this definition I guess I can throw out anyone ever falling for and marrying their childhood friends.

Nope. It is specifically sexual intercourse. A little girl or boy who innocently asks their father or mother if they will marry them when they grow up is not committing incest.

Incest is sexual intercourse between family members and close relatives.[1][2] The term may apply to sexual activities between individuals of close "blood relationship", members of the same household, step relatives related by adoption or marriage, or members of the same clan or lineage.[3]

The bolded are key as nothing of the sort happened between Kirito and Sugu.

For you perhaps but not to everyone. This isn't a 'flaw' in even a remote way (at least the death thing has some overall merit) Again there was more 'incest' in Aki-sora and Yosuga no Sora by like a factor of 10. Even here in the states 2nd and on cousins are allowed to marry so obviously not that big a deal, since Kirito showed no signs of pursuing Sugu in that way.

Ok here's my two cents on SAO. If I rated the show, I'd probably give it a 7-7.5/10 depending on my mood that day. SAO was by no means a great show, but it equally wasn't a 'shit' show, it was simply good, it had plenty of moments that I enjoyed and kept me entertained, but also plenty of things that simply pissed me off or was just a little bit annoying. So my three categories will be this- nitpicks (things that are annoying to me personally, but definitely ARE NOT a show killer), Bad stuff (cause saying how bad something is is always easy),and finally Good stuff (cause saying genuinely good stuff is hard). Alright so let's begin:
1. Nitpicks
Kirito's OP, let's face it he is. But since nearly EVERY main character in fiction nowadays has some degree of OPness or crazy plot armor, this can slide. It is by no means a deal-breaker and there's plenty of characters with this flaw that ppl adore.
Kirito can use magic. No I'm not hating against the magic element in the second arc, I actually thought it was a nice touch, it's just Kirito's proficiency at it that I found somewhat amusing. Kirito had all of his skills carry over from SAO, ok I can buy this. Magic is not in SAO. Magic is a separate skill set in ALF. Kirito can do (I'm assuming) advanced magical skills. I know he doesn't use magic a lot, and when he does it's fine, I just laughed a little the two or so times he actually pulled out a crazy magic skill.
Tech Plot Holes. This is really a minor thing, and is something that is probably only a concern to very few people, but I enjoy my little tech an science background lessons. Very little, if any, of the tech was actually explained in SAO which I was a little bummed about, I liked the whole great big science explanations given in Steins;Gate, and something like that could have helped the show. Of course, a tech lesson that just opens more glaring holes can be a show-killer, so what SAO did was fine for the most part, and I give it props for this.

2. Bad Stuff *this is pretty much the entire 2nd arc*
Fanservice. Yes fanservice can be great at times, and I know a good deal of people enjoy it, but there is a point where it's simply too much, this hit me in the second arc. While the first arc did have it, it was never too blatant and could be easily ignored if desired (and made some pretty good comedic scenes). The second arc however just went a bit to the extreme for me. I mean tentacle rape scientists? Really? I could hardly watch any scene with Asuna in it without just being filled with rage at the amount of pure unbridled RAPE just thrown in there, but I'll get to this later.
The Villain. I simply didn't like the second arc's villain. The man (if he can be called such) was simply too much of a copy and paste bad guy with the only stand out characteristic being a rape fetish. I know this was implemented to make the audience hate him, but whenever the man came on screen I only really felt disgust. The example for a hated character would be Zouken from Fate/Zero, I simply despised the man yet I have to admit he was an amazingly well written and portrayed character. Suguo enjoys none of this.
Fairy Princess Asuna. In the entire SAO arc Asuna is portrayed as a very strong woman. Sure she had the 'traditional' woman skills that envolved her being an amazing chef, but she was always able to take care of herself and I never got the sense that she ever needed or wanted to be protected (obviously Kirito thought differently but thats fine). This seems to change in the second arc. She just seems... I don't know faaaaar to submissive to me, way to different than how she was in the first arc. Yes yes, before all the SAO lovers say it I KNOW she resisted somewhat, but there is only ever one great resistance scheme and that is her escape attempt. Other than that... well she has some sharp comments but is mostly subdued and accepting, which I REALLY did not like.
Incest Baby Yeah! I didn't like it at all. SURE you can say that 'they're only cousins!' and 'no penetration so it doesn't count!' but come on! You all know where this was heading, it's not like Suguha tried to hide it at all (how many times did she say I love Kirito? and not in the brotherly way?). Some of you may like your incest, but as for me it doesn't belong in any show that's trying to take itself seriously.
Ending. This is probably the biggest problem I had with the show, other than the fan(rape)service. The entire ending just left me feeling unfulfilled. I'm not going to go too far in depth here, but for me what I really wanted was a more satisfying time with Asuna, not some 4 minute scene of them at school eating lunch. I felt it talked a little too much about MMO's when I could honestly care less about what happened to a fictitious worlds video games. What had kept me watching the show through the second arc was a desire to see a conclusion, and a return of the Asuna I saw in the first arc. I saw none of this, or at least not enough, which is truly a shame.

3. Good Stuff *mostly first arc*
The World. Say what you want about SAO, but you can hardly deny the place looked and sounded beautiful. The fights looked great, when the creators wanted to the scenery was gorgeous, and everything sounded amazing. Overall great marks from me.
First Villain. Kayaba was an interesting villain and I liked him. He has one of the great characteristics that makes a good villain, and that is mystery. You were always trying to figure out WHY he was doing what he was doing, what the point was of trapping thousands of people in a video-game was. When he finally had his big reveal, it came as a surprise and I enjoyed it. The only thing I can say is I wanted more Kayaba time, and less Rape Fairy Oberon.
First Arc support. Who here didn't like the support cast in the first arc? Sure the girls had a tendency to fall in love with Kirito instantly, but this is an anime, get over it. Klein was great and I always loved the little bits of Klein-time, I loved Agil, and I've already stated how I enjoyed first arc Asuna. Even the characters who died shortly after being introduced or only had small one-episode rolls (when they had a name and weren't Army) I felt were portrayed well. Overall good show there.
