So, I know this is a pretty popular topic for Bleach fans, and there is no definitive answer. All we really know is that they cancelled it. However I thought this may be a good place to discuss why it will, or why it won't return.

My personal thoughts on it are they are going to wait for the manga itself to get further ahead before starting it up again. Possibly they will do something like Naruto & Naruto Shippuden.

On the other side of things, the creators of the anime could have just grown tired of it in particular and moved onto other things. Though I really hope it will continue.

What are your thoughts?

Not "cancelled", but "ended".

There is always a possibility of it returning as the anime director did not clearly state that it was ending for good. He, himself, is unsure if it'll ever return; so the Bleach anime's status is pending.

The main thing for sure is that it was catching up to the recent manga chapter at the time; we could assume that this reason was a huge factor in their decision to end it. Also, I don't think they wanted to risk running more fillers (at the expense of money, resources, time consumption, etc).

Bleach (manga) is currently in its final arc, so who knows? - Maybe we'll get to see a glorious return once the arc is nearing completion.

The final arc is way too good to not be animated. All I can do is just sit it out and hope for its return

They won't cancel it. Just postpone it. Bleach is too damn popular globally to be ignored.

Gotta agree with that, but seeing how popular Bleach had become it will probably continue in the (near) future. It would be too much of a waste to stop one of the most popular anime's while the manga continues.

I don't think it will, which I am disappointed about because I would love to see the current Manga arc in Anime form.

It's been estimated to return next year. That is 2014 if it sells higher.

To me, it's depend on how long the manga will last. Not to mention. Based on the sale on Manga also give an hint.

I will give say mid of 2013 or 2014.

If anything, I suspect it'll return as a series of films rather than a tv series. Higher budget and more faithful to the exact depiction in the manga.

That way, it's set out as the conclusion to the story and doesn't contain filler. I also think that the way the arc is going is going to be as long if not longer than the arrancar arc. So we could be looking at easily 3-5 years of manga with major story plot twists, or 2-3 years if Kubo rushes the story.

A series would probably be their choice in that they could stall/add in scenes to make the fights last longer.

Ultimately, they will make the final arc animated. To not do it would cause too many problems with fans and lose a franchise.

This show is HUGE globally. Pretty much the only one that compares with Naruto/Naruto Shippuden. I'm even a huge fan of One Piece but it even stopped running in America, while Bleach and Naruto were still on air. It would be a pretty poor decision on their part NOT to continue it in the near future.
