.hack//SIGN was one of my early favorites. Eventually wound up shelling out for DVD's years ago because I kept getting confused (watching it piecemeal during sporadic late-night TV sessions is entertaining but not very good for plot comprehension).
Played the G.U. series but never actually beat the original .hack// game quartet (regular monsters were super OP after a while and hot damn confusion really, really hurt, never mind the final boss, and that was just //infection). I think we still have those lying around somewhere but... I'll have to dig them up and replay them someday. Still enjoyed the sort-of continuity between SIGN and the .hack game quartet, though.

Dot Hack was my first real anime. Music by Yuki was amazing, Drama was amazing. story was amazing. Characters felt so real, was the first time any show made me think 'if these were real people, I can honestly say I could see them behaving this way. Love dot hack. It's just a solid show.
