Do you find it harder to make friends as an adult?

Also, I too agree with joining groups to meet people with similar interests. That way you can make more friends and potentially feel better. I try to watch a wide range of Anime with different elements that make up the stories and characters. There are a few genres that i always enjoy though. I'm currently trying to get my girl more interested in anime, since I am trying to become more interested in some of her hobbies. Does anyone have suggestions of animes that you think a 23 yr old female would enjoy? Well, what does she like? Both of us enjoy the mystery/crime genre. She's into films that take place in the early- mid 20th century. She'd like anything with a strong female lead character as well. |

My friend Mikey was really getting into anime and he noticed that there weren't any groups for people like that in our city, so a formed one himself and it just kept growing and growing! Now were like 30+ members and we're working on a website and everything. We are even doing panels at the local conventions. That's called commitment. I respect that. Thank you! We, along with the other members of our group, feel very strongly about making otaku guys and girls feel less alone. As otaku, we tend to feel isolated and it makes me kind of sad to think that way. That's why I always recommend joining these kinds of groups and going to conventions. It feels great to know there are actually a lot of people who share this interest. I mean, just look at how many members CrunchyRoll has! Do you guys watch a wide range of different genres of anime? Also, I too agree with joining groups to meet people with similar interests. We vote on an anime to watch at the meeting (we meet up once a week) and watch whichever one has the most votes and then watch the one with the least amount of votes the following week. Most recently we've watched Sword Art Online and Soul Eater. Both were a big hit with the members of the group. We usually watch about 4 episodes and then if the members like it, they continue watching on their own. It works out well and gives us more to talk about at the next meeting. That sounds like a good set-up, glad it works out well. If you were wondering/curious about the anime I used for examples let me know, I can explain them to you if you want. Give a synopsis and what-not. I've watched K-on! and loved it. Though I know of Neon Genesis, I've never really sat down to watch it. There so many new series coming out that I tend not to go back that far into "anime history". When I do go back to watch older series, it's usually to watch Samurai Champloo for the hundredth time. lol. Though recently I have been obsessing over old episode of Yugioh. I know the feeling. You could try the Rebuild of Evangelion films, which are more recent. Then again, it's always good to watch the original also. Texhnolyze and Neon Genesis Evangelion are very dark shows while K-ON! is bubbly and cute and Freezing being action-packed and violent. Well, they're all violent in a sense really. |

Does anyone have suggestions of animes that you think a 23 yr old female would enjoy? I suggest showing her some shojo. It's romantic and looks pretty. What girl wouldn't like that? Or if, like me, action and science fiction is more her thing, try Bleach or Naruto. Yes, they are considered shonen but both have emotional aspects that female viewers can enjoy and relate to. I've recently started watching Blast of Tempest. I think girls can get into it because the boys are attractive and love for a girl plays a big part in the characters' motives, but there is also a good does of action and the fight scene are fantastic, so you can enjoy this one, too. I hope this was helpful! |

Does anyone have suggestions of animes that you think a 23 yr old female would enjoy? It really depends on the girl, but as a 23 year old female I can definitely give you some ideas of what I like. For me, I like love stories, not necessarily super dramatic or cliche, but anything with strong lead characters and a happy ending (for instance, I'm watching Say I Love You right now and loving it). Romantic comedies are fun too, Ouran High School Host Club would be a good example. At the same time, I love shows that guys like too like Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist. Every girl is different, so I would just ask her what she likes, if I were you. |

She's into films that take place in the early- mid 20th century. She'd like anything with a strong female lead character as well. Then I'd recommend obviously shows of that type. Shows like Gosick, Monster, RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Ergo Proxy, Chrono Crusade, Bunny Drop, Black Lagoon, Bunny Drop, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, Gunbuster, Diebuster (Gunbuster 2), Baccano!, Ga Rei Zero, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, Le Portrait de Petite Cossette, etc. Now, some of those aren't really in the mystery/crime genre and not set during the early-mid 20th century but I based those off of strong female lead and my own suggestions. I have a list of anime on my profile if you want to browse through it. Being myself, I also recommend Fate/Stay Night, Texhnolyze, and Neon Genesis Evangelion (as well as the Rebuild films). |

I only ever get to do things like that when Animazement rolls around once a year lol Sadly, a lot of the friends I have may watch anime occasionally, but they're definitely not otaku. I doubt they'd be interested in forming a group like that |

To add to the great suggestions already listed: She might enjoy Kokoro Connect. There's some mystery there, mixed with sci-fi elements, and I found it quite compelling. My girlfriend did, too. Chihayafuru might be an option, as well. It has a strong female lead, and it plays a bit like a sports anime, though it's based around karuta. If she enjoys games, this one may appeal to her. Both series also have significant character development.EDIT: I should add Mahoromatic to this, too. There's a strong female lead, as well as a lot of mystery elements, particularly in the second season. |

I'm in my last year of HS and even I still have trouble making new friends.
Nowadays people judge other supers fast. In HS if you let's say... puke in class, you will forever in that school be puke boy. It'd be very hard to make friends because of your rep now. Me personally in my first year of HS I was known as the gay kid because I didn't talk much (btw I'm not gay). All because I didn't talk to people due to me being the new kid I got that title for my first year. I eventually got rid of that title after I made friends with my group now but still it's a good example. It doesn't matter if your an adult or a teenager, like me it will forever be hard to make friends because of some reason. In HS it's reputation. |

These days there's not much motivation to go out other than to go to work. Especially since I don't really like going to bars, clubs, or parties.

I was quiet in high school too and I got picked on a lot because of it, even though I was just shy. Around my junior year I finally found a good group of friends. Luckily, you found some friends too. Hopefully, they'll stick with you after high school |

I'm not really bar/club type of person. I'll go out with my friends every now and then, but most of the time they just come over to my house and we'll watch movies lol Kind of hard to meet people that way. It's not that I don't like bars or clubs, in fact I really like dancing, I just can't stand the type of people that hang out at those places. |

I have to also agree with not liking bars or clubs. It doesn't help that I'm not a drinker either. It also doesn't help that I moved around a lot myself so the only real connections I have anymore are long distance. I've decided long as I don't get to the point of taking in cats. I'll be fine. |
