Just ask a question to get out of the awkwardness. It's happened to me before and everyone was staring at me. I thought *Damn, now what do i do*. I just asked a random question that would make them forget what was happening and everything works out perfectly :)
It's really awkward when you say something that's seriously meant to be funny, but no one laughs. Hey not my fault people don't like to laugh  Maybe they should try watching some anime like gintama |

If a joke flops, I resort to clapping my hands in front of me like cymbals, staring wild eyed, and gnashing my teeth like a wind up monkey. I've gotten all sorts of perks from this action as well: like dollars, lucky rabbits feet, tickets to Niagra Falls and a half eaten orange push-up. One time someone whipped out a knife and cut off all his brass buttons to compensate me. "Ummm thanks." I muttered, the embossed little workhorse buttons spilling out from his hands to mine. All I know is he made me stop clapping cuz it's really hard to clap with your hands full. It would have been so much easier if he'd just laughed in the first place.

calm down and try to use a quote from a popular show or movie you know thats very familiar with your friends... with this setup you and your friend(s) are most likely to sway away from the earlier failed joke and provide a certain continuation of story... we as people may take that failed joke as a "stump" which is later followed by a climax joke...or you could laugh like an idiot and play the jester for the night |

It never hapen to me. Usually, my jokes came out like that. Sometimes, people think it's a joke, but actually is not it's just came out like that. Once, my friend said :'' you fail your joke'' me: ''it wasn't a joke I was serious :o'' Most of the time, people laugh at things I say, but I've never thought it would be a funny
