I prefer to keep up rather than marathon because I tend fall behind on things if I marathon something long. Though in some cases I can't help myself. I'm making pretty quick work of the number of episodes Detective Conan has vs the amount of free time I have to watch it. And since I've been putting aside the current things I'm watching I've got a build up of other things to watch now.

I guess you're right, its more fun if you can watch them all at once, or go through them in a short period of time, because then you get every last detail before the ending, but I like the way its set up when its one a week, it reminds me of the good 'old days when we just watched Tv, and needed to wait a whole week before the next episode <.< I just watch it once a week, because if I like it enough, I would rather watch it and refill my "needs" for it, and when next time it's released, just do the same thing

Gotta watch it once a week, the moment an ep is released here on CR
That's one of the points to having a membership, access to new eps

It really all depends on the anime... SAO and FairyTale (now that the new arc is running). I need my weekly dose its just way too good to put on hold. However with other anime's I find it better to walk away for a while and come back and catch up when I have a good day, such as Vangaurd, or Eureka 7 AO.
Usually has to do with the pace or plot of a show and the length in which the series will be running. For instance Saint Saiya Omega is taking place over a couple of seasons. So I have only watched like the first 6 episodes and have been letting it get way ahead so I can marathon it later cause I just seemed that its story/pace was better for a marathon than trying to keep up weekly with so many other great anime's out the last couple seasons.
Even with that being said i usually marathon all good shows after the simulcast finishes. You always pick up on way more (Fate/Stay) series is great example of that.

I personally don't mind them, because it makes you want to seriously watch it But if that episode isn't coming on that week you are waiting for it, like hunter x hunter this week ....

I marathon every anime I watch. Waiting once a week isn't for me. I'd rather get it all done in one go, rather than wait week after week for the next episode.
However, the only anime I simulcast is Gintama and Medaka Box Abnormal.

I always marathon. I hate cliffhangers and want to know what happens next right away, so I'll just wait until a show is complete and watch at the pace I choose. Work plays a factor, but I like to marathon as much as possible over a period of a few days or weeks depending on the show's length. For shows like "One Piece" that falls under the "Only God Knows When This Thing Will End," I watch it in season chunks. I guess you could say I "marathon a season."

If we are talking about simulcasts then I tend to watch them as they air.

As time has gone by, I've gotten less and less into watching week to week, and more into waiting and marathoning a series once it has ended.
Looking back at fall 2012, I see only two new simulcasts for that season that I watched week to week (one here, one at TAN), and I have yet to start watching any new simulcast from this season.
Watching week to week is no doubt better if you want to discuss each episode with others, but for me, the lure of being able to watch at my own pace seems to be winning out.
One exception I would readily make would be comedies that have essentially free standing episodes with no continuing plot, especially shorts. That said, I haven't started any of those yet for the season, either. Hmm....

I'll do weekly for most, however, shorts I tend to wait on at least until there are four or five episodes I can watch at a time.
