Anime that just seemed to drag on and on and on...
|
Naruto, Bleach, Gintama, Eyeshield 21. Don't get me wrong, I loved them all, but some episodes felt wayy much longer than it should have been.

Another 200 episodes of learning another secret technique that will be obsolete as soon as it's introduced.......oh goody...... Lol. I was thinking DBZ as well. ^__^ It is like the perfect example. |

esavsage wrote: the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya "the endless eight" Seriously if you got through those 8 episodes then hats off to you, i only got through 5 before i just skipped to the last one I know exactly what you mean, and I did. I should have known that every single one of those damn things would be the same episode until the last one. Heck, here we go, I'm going to try to pull it out of my memory: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide *-Episode starts. -Baseball game on TV. -Kyon states in his mind that he's going to go for the underdog. -Kyon feels like the phone's going to ring. -Phone rings. -Haruhi's on the phone. -Tells Kyon to meet up with her and the brigade. -Hangs up. -"I didn't even get to say anything." -Phone rings again. -Haruhi again. -"Bring your bike and bathing suit." -Underdog on TV loses. -Opening scene. -Title "Endless Eight" appears on screen as Kyon is riding his bike. -Meets up with the brigade. -Two bikes, five people. -Kyon gets Yuki and Asahina. -Itsuki gets Haruhi. -Race to the pool, loser gets a penalty. -At the pool; Kyon lost. Out of breath. -Haruhi pushes Asahina into the pool. -Haruhi then dives. -Kyon to self: "Does she not notice all the no diving signs around?" -Kyon to self: "Yuki looks alone. I've seen this before." -Kyon's sitting down. -Haruhi brings two kids up to Kyon and the brigade members. -Again, "I've seen this before." -Kyon knows word-for-word what Haruhi says. -Pool scene ends. -At the cafe. -Discussion about what they should do this summer. -Itsuki: "Pardon me, can I see that?" -Looks at paper. -"Thanks." -Gives paper back. -Haruhi: "Let's look for a festival." -Cafe scene ends. -Outside of cafe. -Kyon: "Yuki seems sad." -Kyon follows Yuki. -Yuki: "What is it?" -Kyon: "Nothing, lol." -End scene. -Next day. -"We found a festival, it's at the park tonight. Meet us there at 8 o'clock (or something.)" -At the festival. -Goldfish scooping. -Yuki buys a mask. -Post-festival. -Shooting off fireworks near a bonfire. -Kyon: "Haruhi, have you done your homework yet?" -Haruhi: "What are you talking about, you can do it in three days." -Kyon: "WTF 3 DAYS" -Festival scene ends. -Next day. -Part-time job. -Handing out flyers in huge costumes in the middle of the dead heat. -Work is over, in the lounge. -Haruhi walks in, "good job doing all the work, you guys." -Kyon: "I can't wait to get paid." -They get a frog suit. -End job scene. -Next day, cicada catching contest. -Yuki catches something completely extraordinary. -Asahina sucks at catching bugs. -Haruhi wins. -"Let's release the cicadas, maybe they'll realize that we let them go free and come back to help us one day." -End cicada contest. -That night. -Kyon's sleeping. -Phone rings. -It's Asahina. She moans. -Itsuki takes the phone from Asahina and tells Kyon to meet up with them. -Kyon freaks out about Itsuki being with Asahina, but still goes to meet up with them. -Itsuki explains the strange feelings of dejavu that only he and Kyon are experiencing. -Itsuki points out that Yuki, being an alien, probably remembers it all. -They've done this FIFTEEN-THOUSAND, FOUR-HUNDRED AND NINETY-EIGHT FREAKING TIMES. -Kyon: "Wtf that's 594 years." -End meeting. -Next day, batting cages. -Kyon: "Wtf Yuki, why don't you tell us about this sooner?" -Yuki: "My job is only to observe." -Haruhi hits a home run. -End scene. -Next day, rooftop at night at Yuki's apartment. -Haruhi: "Let's look for UFO's!" -Later, Haruhi and Asahina fall asleep against a wall. -Itsuki and Kyon begin talking. -Itsuki: "Maybe we can break this chain if a certain someone would grab Haruhi from behind and yell "I love you!" -Kyon: "Yea--no." -End of scene. -Cue montage of six or seven events (such as bowling and watching a crappy movie in a theater) that signifies the passing of six or seven days. -Cafe scene #2. -Haruhi asks the group, "Well, we have one more day, is there anything left we can do for tomorrow? Any ideas?" -No one says anything. -Haruhi: "Okay. We'll just take tomorrow off then. I'll see you guys at school in two days." -Haruhi starts to walk for the door. -Kyon stands up and tries to stop Haruhi from leaving. -Fails ungracefully. -End scene. -Next day. -Kyon: "Dammit I have to do my homework (dur-da-dur)" -Kyon: "Screw it, I'm going to have to do this again anyways." -Kyon goes to sleep. -Episode ends.* -REPEAT EVERYTHING IN * 7 FKING TIMES. -Repeat everything in * one more time, stopping at the second cafe scene this time. -8th time at the cafe for the second time. -Kyon: HOLY CRAP LET'S DO OUR HOMEWORK TOGETHER TOMORROW!" -Haruhi: "DAMMIT DON'T JUST MAKE DECISI--okay, lets." -End cafe scene. -Next day -Kyon's house. -Everyone's there. All studying, except for Haruhi, who's playing video games with Kyon's sister. -Everyone's hunky-dory except for Yuki, who I'm sure was extremely pissed. -End series. There. That was all directly from my memory. That's what watching the same thing eight times in a row does to you. T-T |

It's too easy to list shonen series for this question so I won't list any even though there's a few I could.
Fate/stay night's first 10 episodes were painfully slow and seemed to go nowhere at all. Oh look Shirou is being a dumbass again, what an exciting twist. Oh look the plot is being moved along by character stupidity, what fun. Then the series picks up a bit over the next few episodes though it still drags at parts before slowing down yet again after Gilgamesh shows up. |

If I had a type it'd be you, fortunately I don't have a type so please stop.

Gotta love those 10 minute stare downs on DBZ. Wasted much of my life sitting through those... :-/

Any long anime series (50-100+ series model)... Not saying they're necessarily all bad, but they usually drag on and are typically only extended by staredowns during obnoxiously long 'chatty' fights which go something like this: Confront, Staredown, Clash, Berate, Attack with (special technique), Show surprise at failure/success of (special technique) ... Repeat process.
I remember (roughly) how many episodes it took for Goku to go Super Saiyan against Frieza from when the fight started; 25 episodes I think it was... Worst off, everything that happened was supposed to have taken place over about 5-10 minutes. ¬_¬ |

I feed upon the despair and awkwardness of others... And coffee

Bleach and Naruto (I know Bleach has finished now though) my god their both more filler than story

Yoh!!!

Inuyasha definitely felt that way. I tried to watch Naruto, but after 22 episodes, I gave up. Anything shounen can fall into that trap really, especially the longer ones.
