True, i agree with everything the op wrote, i can't stand how unrealistic those harems are. I would much rather see the main guy die of lung cancer and get attention, better yet be coughing up blood and shit, thank you very much.

Well I wasn't really aiming specifically at you for being 'anti-fan service' just pointing out the imbalance. I don't really mind if a show is fan service oriented as long as it has a core story that intrigues me. Dakara Boku wa, Ecchi ga Dekinai and High School DxD being two examples, in my opinion.

Nope its not necessarly bad. I just explained thats why people hate on it. Imagine your looking for an adventure/supernatural anime, then it gets ruined by fan service. This is what happens in most of those cases, which then leads to hate. Im fine with it in some cases, but mostly i want to watch animes that have a serious story line.

As much as I think this is just a thread for the OP to have whined over I'll respond to his points directly:



1) Weak male center-point: As I stated before not every guy in the world is a tough guy. They're mixed bag of personalities however most of the time its easier to resonate with a weaker character than a stronger one. To be honest though this could all be in your head as traits you see as weak aren't weak by my standards. I can honestly say if I walked in a female, besides getting something thrown my way, I'd probably lock up myself so I expect no different from an anime male.



Fan service or Ecchi: Honestly just grow up. If you get so distracted by anything in the show that you can' t see the story then honestly maybe you should put it aside for a few years. You seem to have misunderstood 'hentai' as its not about nudity its about sexual content And as I've said before and will say again and again big breasts =/= fan service. Obviously you haven't seen many harem animes if you think its all about the females wanting the male lead as thats not the case.



Cliche scenes: And what genre doesn't have these? And extend this to what medium doesn't have things that are akin to cliches?



Plot being stupid or for fan service's sake: The plot varies from anime to anime but usually has something good about it. As far as certain events happening, its not the real world its the story's world so get over it. And again if you refer to any of these scenes in the same regard as hentai then you really need to grow up some.



Characters: They are supposed to vary and represent various personalities. Do they appeal to some people's particular liking? Sure, but this doesn't change that the types exist. I'll take a tsundere over any other type any day of the week.

In conclusion, I'd suggest you move on to another genre (though you'd probably just whine about that one too).

I have enjoyed some of those type of shows they can be fun to watch depending story line.
