More of a rant like my predecessors have mentioned, I did however read the post.

I must say that if Rito2Ru sees this thread he would make an effort in commenting this thread(don't make me look bad Harem King).

Let me try this tactic, If you're as experienced in anime as I am, you would know there are various factors to the Harem THEME like with all anime; if a person can see through the boobs, shower scenes etc... you would actually get to know what the anime is trying to convey.

Effective??? >.>

EDIT: adding fan service to a story doesn't mean the whole thing sucks, it gives you something to look at, guess some people just don't like boobs, sad day...

Maybe we just want an anime with a good, well-written story that we can show to some of our friends that are newer to anime without coming off like a pervert!

There is a difference between liking and being obsessive about certain "things".

"If liking the opposite sex is perverted, well then there are a whole shit ton of perverts on Earth."

If you truly want a good, well-written story then I suggest you look at other genres and themes of anime.

No one has the ability to stop you from watching the good, well-written ones nor the harem ones full of breasts. <- pretty cliche thing to say but o-well.

The ONLY harem anime that I can say I truly enjoyed was "Shuffle!" everything else thats a harem anime that wasnt a parody of said genre has either been horribly meh, or just horrible.

The main problem is that most harem shows have poorly done jokes, frustrating characters and uninteresting or poorly handled plot lines.
Viewing shows alone is less fun than doing it with a friend. A lot of my friends, close friends, would not appreciate the fanservice. Beyond that, just because I just I appreciate the female form doesn't mean I want it in my anime.

Saw my first Harem anime few days ago called Campoine. Story had potential but I lost interest cause I knew the ending wouldn't be satisfying.

Some harems are actually good. The Tenchi Muyo! series and some of it's spin offs are pretty good and one of my favorite animes. Ecchi anime or anime with too much fan service on the other hand can really ruin a series though. Ecchi is cool for people that like that kind of anime I guess but I get annoyed when a cool story line is ruined because the series creators just want fan service every 40seconds in a anime.

edit: I just wanted to edit my comment and say the genre of anime doesn't matter. Out of any genre there are some great ones. a handful of decent or ok ones, and countless horrible generic excuses for the genre. Its important to develop your own taste on what you like but don't avoid an entire genre just because you've seen a few bad ones.

I don't like harem, especially in anime shows like Demon King Daimao or Campione if both of those lost the harem aspect they would be great. Harem just adds loads of unnecessary lackluster characters, dialogue, and story. Ex. It takes away from the desired story of Sai Akuto becoming a demon lord, how he deals with it, and what he does to stop others from thinking he going to kill all of them.

Too much unnecessary, slutty characters that whine and fight over one guy is what turns a good plot into a bad one.

You may say: "adding fan service to a story doesn't mean the whole thing sucks, it gives you something to look at, guess some people just don't like boobs, sad day..."

But, I say Harem doesn't just add fan-service it changes the plot and dialogue of the anime. Forming it into something much worse than what the show could've been.

I'm twenty-six. I have no interest in fanservice of anyone under 20. Most harem anime involve high schoolers.

That was your first harem anime? Look at my previous post, those anime did the harem genre justice
For starters, Seitokai no Ichizon, The World God Only Knows, and Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari

But they're based on the light novels which push for the harem genre lol I don't really know what else you want them to do
You're basically asking for them to change the entire plot
Look, I'm not saying fanservice is awesome or horrible, it depends entirely on how the show chooses to approach it in terms with the plot and characters, some does it well, some not so much
It didn't ruin Nisemonogatari

opinions are opinions, but don't generalize

The *monogatari series, if they are harem anime, don't seem to me like one. Thats how you make an enjoyable harem anime, make it subtle.

For all of you who don't like harem anime, that's fine; the harem genre is doing just fine without you.

Harem animes are what they are and are meant to be lighthearted and on the slapstick side . They can be a refreshing break from your more serious and dark stories. If the guy starts out in appearance as even less than average, then why are all the hotties after him? Then the girls are represented as having a little perception as to what is desirable in a guy which brings out the admirable hidden qualities in the main character. All of this attention usually transforms the guy from a total inept into one cool hunk. It's your typical 'Revenge of the Nerds' scenario. It's fun. Of course I like reverse harem much better.

I've seen a decent amount of harems that were actually fun, some of them were a bit darker, but crunchyroll has a few where the main character isn't an idiot and is actually pretty awesome, I mean there's been some that were pretty pointless, but for the most part the harems that I found have been pretty amazing, the characters actually had depth, and the main character isn't dense, is aware of how everyone feels, tends to be blunt, but tires not to hurt anyone, and can hold his own in a fight, guess i've just found the good ones. XD

I dont think you know the meaning of the word ''genre'' and your rant is bad, you dont know anything.

Harem is like every other genre, wether its good/entertaining depens on the anime itself. Thats it.
