Heys guys, I'm just thinking that I need to know what i want to do for my future job soon. I am going to do something science related, but IT could be okay.

I am thinking of doing pharmacy. One of the reasons for this is because that the university that i want to eventually hopefully go to, has something called a sandwich year for it. This means that i can take a year off to work in the pharmacy related field abroad (I want to go to Japan) and get paid for it.

I don't know because pharmacy seems pretty boring. Does anyone have any other suggestions that would be good, and that I could possibly go to Japan to do for a year.

After i finish university, i plan to hopefully follow the JET, to get like a teaching degree and teach in japan whenever i go there (possibly).

I am open to suggestions. Also share what you hope to do in the future. Also, if my ideas are stupid, please be honest and say so.

Thanks

First thing first, http://youtu.be/HG9paM_3QRM

My best guess is that you should look deeply into your heart and figure out WHAT will make you happy. Is being paramedic what you think will make you happy, go for it. If torturing yourself as game maker will make you happy, go for it. More on the matter - http://youtu.be/pc4rWleclXs

There are plenty of ways to get to Japan, but do you think they will want you there with all your education? Remember that Collage/University degrees are devaluing rapidly, especially in this day and age. People are taking master degrees in their field of interest in order to get a job that required no more than a Bachelor degree 20 years ago.
More on the education - http://youtu.be/iG9CE55wbtY

Best of luck and don't waste your youth on education, go party, meet different people, get life experience.
That is the BEST, SCHOOL, EVER.

We cant pick the job for you, but i can tell you this. Go for a job with a subject you find interesting or fasinating. If you pick a job you dont like to be smoother with women, or choose one that might get you famous, you will regret it. You will spend most of your life doing it, so it has to be enjoyable. Try link your interests together with a job.

Pharmacy, if done more on the scientific side, is not boring.
You could specialize on some plants that only grow in Japan and stay for research *fg*

Honestly, I'm still deciding what I want to do in the future.

I was thinking that I might want to be a high school english teacher because I love reading new stories, writing, and all that stuff and I never want to be a clerk, or anything like that. But I'm having second thoughts about being a teacher because I heard that it takes a LOT of your time, and in the future, when I have a family, I want to be able to hang out with them, or have some time for myself. Is that possible?

I dunno. That's why I'm taking CO-OP next semester, and I'll try english teacher, and see if I like it. (I hope so!)

Cheers.

I have this problem too, because there are so many things that I want to be, but what I'm thinking right now, is just to try it all, I'm going for a "programming, astronomy, history, philosophy, physics, (scientist)" I have two or three back up jobs that I am willing to do if I fail miserably at trying to achieve those "careers" And they are: Fireman, military (because I don't give a shit with my life lol) and then there is "office person" Which you probably know what is, a person that sits at a office and gets paperwork done, that might not be a "happy" choice for me, but that is something that I could do with my eyes closed, probably <.< (not literally, but you know, it's a simple job for me, especially because I've already tried parts of it)

Hey now, desk jobs are fun. I remember a time when I went to my grandfather's office (at Police Headquarters) and I helped with shipments and whatnot. I was twelve then and since then the department has sort of went downhill but regardless it was fun. I also got free donuts and got to roam around the headquarters (within set limits). Those jobs are simple but they have big responsibilities behind them, ever lurking. Anyway, for me, I'm going to be a writer of some sort.

Do what you wanna do, it can be anything you want and don't let anyone choose for you! Also, don't be afraid to try anything, even if you don't like it for you in the end! You're still young and have your whole life ahead of you! I'm 22 and i'm a dental assistant and I love it! But I didn't choose it right away cause I didn't know if was for me then! I actually got my AA then got my BS and after being in the workplace I totally hated it! So I wasn't gonna waste my time doing something I didn't like so I quit and went to school for dental assisting. Now, I love it! I'm glad that I found something that I enjoy and that I have a job that I like doing! So, just keep trying until you find something! Don't force yourself if it doesn't feel right for you!

I went throught the same thought process, but instead of Japan, it was Korea. When I turned 18, I got a job as a pharm tech to get my feet wet. Well lets just say retail pharmacy is not for me. So I ended up changing my major to chemical engineering my 2nd year. Luckly, alot of the basic courses overlapped, so I didnt waste that much time and money. I am glad with my change of major, you can go into almost any field with the degree, and if you stil decide to go into pharmacy school, the transition isnt that big.

Hehe, I didn't say it was a bad job, I just think it's sorta boring, but that is just my opinion And yeah those jobs that I have chosen have big responsibilities but I want a job like that, where I am doing something to make a difference (even though, office isn't quite that, but yeah <.<! back up!)

Any job you have and do makes a difference. Yes, garbage collectors make a difference in society.

Yet no known person works at one of those xD I guess I want to be someone who can be named for something huge. Example [Programming: Make an great program and/or game] [Astronomy: Discover something huge in outer space] [Fireman: Save people -.-] [Military: I guess there aren't that many known here, but same as fireman, just different with helping the country :P] and so on, I know every job makes a difference in some way, but I want it to be a difference that makes me known. <.<

I know almost no people that are actually doing what they want to do as a job.
