ummm. no. Time for an English lesson:

-ment

— suffix forming nouns
1. indicating state, condition, or quality: enjoyment
2. indicating the result or product of an action: embankment
3. indicating process or action: management

It has nothing to do with "mental". I'm assuming you thought that it sounded nice and gullible people would just accept it as fact

Its all about the class warfare. Soon we won't have a middle class to milk anymore and then what will we do when everyone is either rich or on welfare and no one has to pay taxes because the rich can buy shit to show less income i guess they would pay property tax and the rest wouldn't have any income. That's the future i say tax the top 2% give some tax brakes to the middle class and reduce welfare. I'm tired of seeing people not even try because they know that will make almost as much money going on welfare as they would if they go to college. In the state i live single mother with 2 kids makes $630 or more per child as well as herself so $640x3= $1890, plus WIC and Food stamps so they can eat well on top of that if they really try hard enough they can get the gov to even pick up the tab for rent. Oh their medical bills are all covered as well. I went to school in the south and know several people that tell their kids to act crazy so they can get more money and no one makes them prove it i mean something really does need to be done about our welfare system. All these things i say i've seen with my own eyes so they aren't just hearsay or something i read these are all people i've seen hell my dad used to own alot of low income housing and his best renters were the ones that he received his payment from the government the rest he would have to hound thats why he got out of it... Here is a funny one for you one renter was so stupid they burned down the house thinking they could collect on insurance. LOL

Unfortunately, all of the situations you pointed out are VERRRYYY valid, have observed as well. I suppose Malthus was correct, monies/materials should not be provided by the state, but by charities. The unmotivated learn how to ride the system and teach their progeny to do the same. It just keeps growing. An important item I learned years ago was when given an unpalatable/terrifying choice over death, ppl choose to work through the unpleasant choice to reach a plateau they can live with and if they decide otherwise then it's survival of the fittest.

I love the "if you don't like it go live somewhere else" line of reasoning, good job, because thats how society is improved by just accepting status quo, morons. I definitely agree with Boganis and Allonan

So, if people grow apathetic, why would it be the government's fault?

While this response isn't directed at you, personally:

Tell that to people like my father, who is incapacitated to the point of 50% paralysis due to suffering from a stroke just over a year ago. While it's not anyone's "fault" per se that they're in that condition, they still need to be cared for, and in many cases, there is no bouncing back to full mobility, much less independence from care, after that event. He's lucky to still be covered by a combination of three insurance plans, including Medicare, and that we don't have to sell damn near everything we own in order to provide for his care. If any of you have taken long term care of a family member in this condition, you have some idea of the work and money involved. It's no surprise that medical debt is one of the largest causes of bankruptcy.

I acknowledge that the system isn't perfect, and it can't cover everyone's needs. I know some people try to abuse the system; some people might try to abuse it no matter how limited or encompassing it might be. I also appreciate the fact that at this time, some of his needs are being covered with the aid of the government, in a way that keeps members of my family with a roof over our heads, and that we aren't forced to choose between our food and the medication he needs to live.

Actually i have no idea what i wrote up there. While i was writing it, i got lost while thinking what elbowgrease is. In terms of medical care i have 0 experience in it. So half the stuff you was talking about went flying past my head. My dad did have a back surgery though and it would of cost more than a hundred thousand but the doctor made a deal with my dad that if enterns got to watch the surgery, it would cost zip.

Our government was not created with intentions on helping its citizens.

I work 50+ hours a week, and I get taxed an arm and a leg because I'm a well off young single male. The only reason I'm well off is because I work hard to make the money I make and keep the job I have. How is it that I get fucked over, but someone can claim 'disability' for years and get paid by the government? How is it that none of our students can afford an education anymore? Obviously, our government does not give two shits, and it never will.

I wish our society embraced and used Anarchy. Not that bullshit you think it might be, but legitimate Anarchy.

Can't tell if sarcasm.

It's a little bit too much to get into but I truly believe that we as a people can govern ourselves without the use or need of a government. I understand, it's close to impossible but whatever, I can dream.
